I actually really loved the first 7 episodes of this show minus the faservicy ones but once the end was nearing I started to get really disappointed on quality of the writting, that up to now I havent watched the last 2-3 episodes.

The first 3 episodes where wonderful .

However Urobuchi sensei didnt deliver well consistently with this one.

Maybe when I am ready , I will try to watch the last few episodes.

I guess it's rumored that Urobuchi only wrote the story for about a year or so, worked on the first episode or more then had this other guy pick it up and he basically proofread the work before it was animated then Urobuchi stepped back in during the end of the anime. you can actually tell it's not Urobuchi work in the middle but I still love the anime. people expected so much from a 12 episode series, I think they did what they could very nicely.
that ending though...

I swear this has come up at least once every other page since the anime ended. I'm going to stop writing actual replies at this rate and just link sources at people since I feel like whatever I write is never read. Humph!

(I'm being cheeky; the links are to a 4-part interview with Gen Urobuchi about his work on Gargantia).

(It's a very interesting read about the work that goes into something like this).

No worries; just in case it wasn't completely clear I was being totally facetious.

And to be absolutely honest I don't know everything about this either, only that Urobuchi has been deeply involved with the project from its inception to is completion. But ultimately the script writer is responsible for cohesively unifying the ideas approved to go into the script, so how much freedom he had while doing so is anyone's guess.

And I'd agree that Gargantia's plot feels like it was built by committee at times, unfortunately.

This crossover needs to happen

But hey, crossovers ignore all anime conventions anyway so they can do whatever the flip they want.

Don't worry, there will be a second one but ya, the first OVA episode is a bit dull. I need to watch a more higher quality version too as well later this month.
