I wonder if this was inspired by "Last Exile"

So the whole "don't kill them because their people" thing went out the window when they were firing at the pirates from their warships... at least that was my thought

Nice little SoL episode, I expect a few more before the action picks up again. I'd really like to see how Ledo evolves emotionally and how he then responds to the obvious approaching chaos.

Bebel..he has the same eyes as Amy, no wonder they are siblings. Anyways, episode was a bit slow but still enjoyable.

True words there. I just wish Ledo would stop using that word "standby" though because it makes him sound like a robot, almost like Chamber in a way...

As regarding the weather, I'm surprised the planet also had such "phenomena".

Very Nice.

Pacing is slower but understandable.

I like how the story is developing , concentrating on how Ledo see this existense and his conflicting thoughts and feelings about it makes you connect with the character more.

He is so dang cute without being a cliche. As a cosplayer I wish I can be Ledo but I cannot. :(

Since this earth is mainly water and you have the sun then the creation of clouds will be there. Its got to come down sooner or later .

Definitely agree with ^ I really enjoyed where this episode went with character development and how it questions how hard our society pushes for efficiency and productivity.

This show feels like the opposite of a mecha anime. Mechas always have a normal teenage boy who is thrown into battle by accidently stumbling onto the mecha. Most of the episodes would be action oriented with some character development in between those scenes. Gargantia is almost completely character development with some action scenes in between. I love the scope of this show. There are a lot of moments where they just let the atmosphere breathe, which is also pretty rare for a mecha show.

Episode 4, slower but good development. Nice to see a guy drop out of space and time in a way and NOT instantly fit in, not really even want to fit in. Wants to get back to the only life he knows.

Isn't Urobuchi only fully involved with the first episode, or something like that? I'm probably thinking of something else though.

This is Urobuchi series but he did the script for episode 1 so far .He and Murata sensei ( director) are in this together from what I read.

Murata did the storyboarding for ep 1 and 2 so far , which had a lot of action sequence and set the basics of this title.

But back to Ledo's world , children are manufactured and if defective , they are discarded and there are no parents?.I cant imagine that world either ,Family is the core of our society.

NOwadays when parents from developed countries that does genetic testing etc etc find out that their baby in uteru has a genetic anomaly , they abort them . Or in some countries if its a girl , they abort it .

I have strong feelings about this becuase I wish I can have kids but right now I have my doogies [ /green]

So far I am really liking the work of the new seiyuu Ishikawa Kaito as Ledo . he is in the same agency as Okamoto NObuhiko and Aoi Yuki , I also like the tone of his voice

Ledo has 2 different seiyuu's? One for gibberish and one for actual Japanese?
