There comes a point when things are overpriced. The most expensive I got was ~60

I found out after ordering two for around ~$60 (see profile pics), pretty much all of them are made in China (cheapest labor past slavery). Add the fact they are PVC, they should never reach over 40 bucks in my opinion. While I have paid the $60 price range, It's going to be very rare. Very. I'd no lie buy much more and more often at a third less the current prices.

But my biggest urk, given the cost of manufacture, is items like this:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/store/p/30308/Mikoto-Misaka-Bunny-Ver-14-Scale-PVC-Figure-PRE-ORDER

Over $200 bucks for PCV and cheap labor?

What do you all think?
I included a poll for reference on opinion.

Notice that this will be much cheaper in future, because 3D printing is also going to be cheaper
But yes, I agree that they are overpriced. With those money you could buy many many many anime DVD's, instead of a stupid figure.
Its just a waste of money...

Of course! I could never dream of getting one. It just seems like it's a rip off for something so tiny and fragile. I'd rather spend my money on something else.

I cant even afford the damn DVD's so what makes them think i can go spend money like that? At best i just give $60 to CR every year to help support the anime industry but that's it.

As a collector, I can tell you that the prices can be very, very steep and I've missed out on some great figures because of my tight wallet. I've paid a hundred (or well more) for figures I thought looked flawless and really, really wanted. It's a hobby for collectibles typically only released in a single run so I'm no longer surprised at how high the pricing can get.

Some are, especially if they are of characters from popular anime. When you really look into the production though (price of making the mold, paying the painters and assemblers, quality control, etc.) a lot of them really aren't overpriced. I went and looked into all of this as I am an avid figure collector and I was surprised to see how little a lot of companies profit from these figures. Figures from hyped up anime and popular figure types such as nendoroids and Figma are becoming too pricey though and it is obvious are just taking advantage of their popularity.

Also the figure shown above is a 1/4 and that is actually cheap compared to a lot of 1/4 scale figures lol A lot of bigger figures such as these are actually less detailed and have more flaws I have found which to me seems ridiculous considering the price tag.

I've never bought one but I've seen the prices.

You'd have to be mad to shell out that sort of money for some piece of plastic. I can't even see how you'd get any enjoyment out of it.

The money would be better spent on food.

It's just a collector's hobby like any other. In this case, collecting merchandise for something people are enthusiastic about makes them happy.
