Yeah it probably has to do with the purple Valvrave but maybe it might not be piloted by someone we expect it to be

I'm apparently only finding out about this now but someone on another forum confimred that VALVRAVE is an acronym for

FUUUUUUU

I need to go lie down for this, I thought they were joking or something about it

Could being referring to the Dorssian commander that is a vampire? Maybe he gets to the last valvrave, first?

So far it seems that only the kids in the colony are able to pilot them (because that's what they've been trained and possibly experimented on to do). Another Dorssian soldier once tried to pilot the red one and got skewered. If the commander can pilot it, it'd make for a surprising twist (to me at least).

But no, Akira has to pilot the purple valvrave...SHE HAS TO

I was thinking that from the next episode's title and that commander is a vampire as well, right?

The way I take that scene is that some random person can't just pilot a valvrave that already has a registered pilot (I.E: If Saki had tried to pilot the red valvrave instead of getting into a "blank" one the same thing may have happened to her.) That leaves the question of whether or not they could jump into each others' valvraves if the situation called for it. What I mean is, do the valvraves recognize pilots by their specific genetics, or is it by the the nanites (or whatever) that it injects into their blood.

The thing that will probably tie this all together is whatever that shining object was in the commander's office

I'm guessing it has to do with those "runes" that the teacher guy says make up all information or something in the universe
I think its those runes that create an identification marker on the pilots so that only those who have been marked by that particular valvrave can pilot it. And not even other Valvrave pilots can use the one you have.

No the commander doesn't have to have had a Valvrave before. The "vampirism" comes from the "runes" which indeed the pilots get injected with once they hit yes to "resigning humanity" but no one says the runes could not just be injected into you without the aid of the Valvraves. But I think the more telling hint here is the Physics Teachers comments back back in episode 3 or 4 (can't remember and too lazy to look it up) where he comments that the Valvrave appears beyond human technology and wonders what devil the chief scientist (who appears to be Haruto's father or relative since they have the same last name) had made a deal with.

So possibly the basis of Valvrave technology could be an alien race and Dorssia Commander may never have been human. He certainly knows a lot more about the Valvraves then he is letting on. We hopefully will get more details out of him next episode. Along with a cliff-hanger for season 2 no doubt.

At this point nothing will surprise me when the show restarts in Fall.

And it has mahou shoujos fighting zombies...IN SPACE! Wahaha might as well throw everything into this show. I joke, I joke.

But I do agree that the commander is hiding a larger plot device. His vice commander or whatever her position is and that one elite soldier that were sneaking in his room will probably make some discovery next episode.

This is reminiscent of Code Geass where we probably won't know more about the Valvraves until the next season/cour like they did with the Geass mystery. Why you do this Sunrise!?

One of the definitions of "heretic" not related to religion is "Anyone who does not conform to an established attitude, doctrine, or principle" or "A person holding an opinion at odds with what is generally accepted".

The question is, does "heretic" in this instance relate to the pilot, or the Valvrave itself?

Hmm the definition is interesting, thanks for providing it TheAncientOne

If I try to make it fit for Akira it makes some sense

The only reason I'm applying the definition to Akira is that she seems to be gaining prominence in the last few episodes and even in the preview for the next one.

Need to make a comment since I posted earlier about 6-7 really gaining my interest. In fact, I've been interested since the final scene from episode 1 to be honest. Episode 6-7 is where it takes off.

I need a "liked it then hated it then liked it again" option. If I were to go back and re-watch the episodes I hated now I might like them better in context of what was to come though, having developed a slightly better sense of what this show is playing at.

^ Same here I liked the series at the beginning but, it started to become a little ridiculous so my likeness towards it dwindled down. However, the recent episodes have really made me enjoy the series again.

Yeah, the fact that this Anime is unpredictable is probably what draws most people to it.

Me, I just watch it for the Mechas mostly . As for the show itself it's okay, definitely interesting to see how it develops.
