Honestly? The hair.

I absolutely love the gravity defying hair styles and colors. I also enjoy it when their hair becomes prop or comedic device. The longer, the better. This applies to both anime men and women.

The only reason I watch a show is if they have good hair.

Yeah the hair is quite amazing, very beautiful.

The easiest way to explain would be telling how I found anime. I like animation in general. The problem with American animation is that the shows are only for children, so it was a big problem when I got older and started seeing the plot holes and lack of coherent storytelling. Just when I was about to give up and watch regular adult TV, I saw Blood+ on Adult Swim. Horror is not my genre, but I fell head over heels in love with the show. The storytelling, the character interaction, the atmosphere, the designs...okay, just everything about it was fresh and different than what I saw in our media. That is why I like it. There is a load of creativity and maturity while using a medium that is reserved for young audiences in other cultures.

Art will always be what I love about anime, the best thing about a drawn character is they're interpreted to look the way the author wants them to look in his/her story, instead of finding actors for tv who look enough like the character. I like finding the unique stories that anime has to offer.

I like the art style but the real reason has to be that in Japan, animation does not equal kids shows. Anime has a great variety of age groups for which it is targeted, and just about every genre.

1. For me, art is at the top. If the art doesn't appeal to me, despite the story, it'll be hard for me to watch.
I only managed through a couple of Sailor Moon episodes. This is the same for any animes that look 'older'.

2. Story comes next. It has to be a very good and unique plot. If it isn't that unique then....it better be pretty.

3. Bishies. That is all.

Anime appeals to me for the same reasons any other entertainment appeals to me: it's entertaining. I like fictional stories, and I adore bizarre animation.

I almost feel like you quoted me for the single purpose of assuming I am a furry and taking the chance to mock me for it.
What did being a furry have to do with any of this? Or my age for that matter.

Your feelings are your own. Spacebat has no social-filter; he calls it like he sees it. I do agree with you despite your feelings.

For me it's always the storyline and art. I love stories that are interesting, have large worlds and amazing characters. I love the art style too.
