Well looking at it, what YOLO stands for is incorrect. You actually only die once, you live everyday.

It's an internet thing, mostly popular among people in their teens to early/mid 20's used as excuse to do stupid things.
Really stupid things sometimes:

It's a great term. It helps me pick out the people who will annoy me without having to get to know them as well.

It seems to be an excuse to be stupid. If you are old enough to throw your life away, you should be mature enough to just use the proper phrase:

True, true.

But people using that phrase also think about the possible concequenses of their actions prior to saying it.

The only people i've heard drop YOLO non-ironically in real life have been extremely douchy frat boys. As someone who hangs out with a lot of douchey frat boys the fact that I won't hang out with the guys who drop YOLO on a regular basis says something.

The only time someone said YOLO without triggering my natural response, which is to hurt them, was in LoL when my brother's friend yelled YOLO! and did a suicide run into the enemy base.. LMFAO!

I honestly only use the word "YOLO" when I'm playing video games with friends, which is funny because its more like "you only live until you respawn" since you clearly don't live just once on video games....

I'm a psychotic YOLO user. I normally say it after a close call that probably could have killed me or at least harmed me a lot. And just when anything bad happens, to shrug it off, AND IT ACTUALLY WORKS. THAT'S THE STRANGE PART. If I die on an MMO from doing something crazy and lose all my shit, i'm just like, LOL NIGGA YOLO. And suddenly I don't feel like rage quitting.
