Normally all simulcasts Crunchy has releases the episodes before any fansub group. I guess it won't be the case with this show. :/

Finally got to see LoveLive! 1 in 1080p when I got the import Blu-Ray disc and the funny thing is that it is Crunchyroll subs so I guess some of your deals include your subs being on the disc or do they supply the subs for Crunchyroll sometimes? Word for word identical (yes, I watched them side by side LOL) except that episode 1 doesn't have OP subs here but does on the Blu-Ray like later episodes here. The Blu-Ray came later, I assume it took longer to sub the OP...

That one is an NISA license, so chances are, the subs were done by either NIS or NISA, and supplied to CR.
If that was the case, since they were official translations, they would get included in the JP BDs if they included subs.

Similar to how FUNi & Aniplex US subs show up on JP releases from time to time.

Well, LoveLive! import BDs definitely include English subs (I have seen it myself on the copy I own of BD1) so perhaps they won't bother with a separate NA release, just use this one. Only the episode is subbed however, not the bonus features. They probably wouldn't include the light novel in the NA release unless they bothered to translate it.

Gargantia is going to be the same, subs on the import BDs which I have preordered. So I wonder if they are also supplying subs to Crunchy?

A wink is all we get, eh??? Enquiring minds want to know where the subs came from! LOL

And I turn the subs off, how about that? That's why I really like Crunchyroll compared to Funimation and TAN, for most of the shows I can turn the subs off. Not all of them... but most of them. Perhaps you can shed some light there too, why do some series have hard coded subs and others where they are apparently supplied like LoveLive! the subs are soft and can be turned off? It isn't just for English-speaking only licenses either...

To get slightly back on topic I hope I can turn off the subs on Attack on Titan here.

Oh and still no episode 2 of AoT on Funimation yet...

As of yet, no one has announced a Gargantia R1 license.
However, it's a YTV series, and only 2 companies have picked up YTV series that are on CR; NISA & Sentai, so it's possible it's one of those two companies supplying the subs.
It's also entirely possible it went unlicensed (doubtful considering the Staff invloved, but possible) so CR might have done the subs themselves.

As an aside, somewhere along the line between this season and last season, I've lost the ability to preview my posts in the forum.

Why preview when you can just edit it twenty times after you post? That's what I do LOL

Gargantia is Lantis so I expect it will be NISA like LoveLive!, my guess anyways...

Bandai Visual is is doing the JP release and they're on the Production of it, so it's possible it's a Sentai license, like Hakkenden was, just not announced yet.

Didn't notice Bandai there... teams of production companies...

Very silly but I love the music in the Bandai Visual intro on their import BDs. Just sets everything up right. You know awesomeness is coming once that pounding track starts... dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun... Though it sounds too important for Wooser LOL Love Wooser but the music prepares me for something a little bit, ah... more serious.

So the first two episodes are supposed to be up some time today, but they still haven't announced when? Given that this was such an anticipated series, I'm guessing the studio were asking a ridiculous amount for the license, and negotiations took a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if CR have only had the masters for the opening episodes for a matter of hours and are frantically translating them now.
