Totally believe in free will. We have the right to choose, to judge, and to think. Those are all free will, and if it was merely driven by impulses and compulsory, there would be no point to life past survival and art would not exist, because art is an expression of an individual's free will. That and without free will one would not be able to choose multiple options but would be compelled by the most logical option when faced with choices.

Nothing wrong with being religious as long as you are not trying to make everyone else believe what you do.

In fact, good for you. You are making an effort to be benevolent and sympathetic. That's better than many.

Completely agree. I will never tell anyone how to live their life. I will however give my opinion on weither or not they are making a bad choice. give them mor information to make the logical decision.

I believe that we are put on Earth to follow an unwritten code of conduct created by, possibly, the universe.

Recognizing that I have free will is what made me convert to christianity. I'm a former practioner of Hatian voodoo. I had no idea of free will because I constantly felt as if I was possessed by spirit or demon..

I do believe in free will even though I am not a religious person. I believe that about any choice a person makes is from their own free whether or not they are aware of it.

Apparently we're continuing a locked thread here, so:

The fate vs. free will thing is a false dilemma. Fate and free will both exist. Your thoughts and decisions determine what you do (free will). But external influences and limitations can control your thoughts and actions to varying extents (fate). A rabbit isn't going to be elected President, no matter how hard it tries. But a person might pull it off, even if they're, say, black, or a woman.

I doubt there's a magic entity that can defy your brain chemistry to make independent decisions, because no one has any plausible concept of what that means or how it could happen, or any evidence that such a thing exists. But that doesn't mean you have no control over your life.

No, not really. Everyone follows a crowd in some way shape or form, even if they don't know it. When someone is given a free will, they go crazy and don't know what to do.

We are only as free as our instinct to survive allows. But this wasn't a question about mortality, or morality, so I will take my leave.

Yes. But expressing it can sometimes require immense power.
