I think I have to say this again (if I didn't, I'll say it now)...

USE WHAT YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL RECOMMENDS!!!

Using a lower octane than recommended may cause engine damage. Using a higher octane than recommended is pointlessness......

car that run on e85 are on the top 10 list of WORST FUEL MILEAGE lol

using e85 actualy gives u LESS miles, but it burns waayyyy cleaner. its on 15% gasoline...check it out on google

Yes, I know that the car gets less mileage; however, for the price, it's equivalent to 93 if driven properly. Over here, E85 is $2.60, and 93 is $3.60 or more. E85 yields more power since it's rated between 100-105 octane.

Using a higher octane is not pointless if you drive a car that's tuned for it. As I mentioned above, it yields more power than 93 and is much cheaper than C16.

I always go with hi-octane or premium. I gives my engine the power it needs. My engine tends to choke on regular.

When i had my '96 Civic LX, i pumped regular cuz i didn't care too much. Now i just got my '08 Mazda 3, i pump premium. Although the manual says that i can pump regular, i'd rather play it safe and take care of the engine. It's about 20 cents a gallon extra which in total is around $2.40 more for a full tank, but in the long run, it does save your engine some trouble.

Would you rather take the little effort that costs a little extra every time you go pump gas? Or would you prefer to sit in the car shop waiting for the mechanic to mess around with your car?

In about a year or two, i'll downgrade to plus (89 in cali), but for the moment being, i'll give my car some extra care.

How does putting in higher octane do anything beneficial for your car?
Its going to burn the same....its just going to have less of a tendency to knock. And since your car is engineered to run on 87 without knocking, then upping the octane isn't going to do anything as far as beneficial.

^... =_=

Follow the manual and use what is best for your car assuming your engine is close to stock as possible

Using lower octane gas should ONLY be a substitute as the manual would say

in any case i've actually tried 87 once not believing it would cause much of a problem but to find out and it bogs, so take care of your shit and use what is recommended, in my case cali 91 oct
