Not really.... the higher the octane rating of your gas the less prone your gas is to blowing up when you don't want it to, like when your intake valve is open
also the hgiher the octane the more aggressive you can be with your car's tune. Though E85 sounds like the best gas evar! Clean for the enviroment, 110 octane rating, its renewable, and is hella cheap cuz it made from corn! Though brazil beats us in E85 production cuz htey make it from sugar which produces more gas then corn and is much cheaper

Higher octane fuel dosent really harm your engine but it desent do any thing for it either. Unless your engine is tuned to run on high octane fuel u wont see any power gains from it and will just be wasting the extra money.

A. Higher octane = higher flash point = the less likely chance your cylinder will detonate.
B. If your injectors are pumping out fuel during your intake phase, your car is retarded.
C. You are right, you can have more advance timing on higher octane fuel.

run what ever your car recommends you...

if you don't want to run what is recommended, should have thought before buying the car

that is simply said

i believe there are a lot of details already said and i don't remember if i posted here a couple months ago or not lol

Your injectors are suppose to pulse during intake stroke. Thats the only time the engine gets fuel. Intake, compression, ignition & exhaust.

Haha I think you ment if your spark plugs are firing during the intake phase.

If 110 was so cheap, you would see it at every gas station.

He's saying e85 is 110 octane, not 110 at the pump is cheap. Plus the fact that he is wrong on the octane rating. E85's octane rating is 105 and has 30% less energy than petro/gasoline.

Conventional cars cant use it. Thats why its not at every pump.

Forget gas, go diesel...

That being said for most cars available these days 86 octane is perfectly fine. Save the extra cents per liter.

Because of the cost, I use only what I have to. My DD runs great on 87, but my van is going to have to use 89. It's begun to spark knock a bit on 87. And the 'Bu gets E85. 105 octane for 20 cents a gallon less than 87 and half the cost of a gallon of race gas.
