Stupid Oreshura

So this got me pretty dam irritated. As many of you know the anime "Oreshura" was very, very good.
They made the character development happen very early and it made it fun to watch. You wanted to know what was going to happen next.

Then it got to the end, episode 13. Weird number to end on, an odd number. Episode 13 just cut off. It's like the story wasn't even remotely finished and they ended it right when it was getting really good.

Kind of like if they ended the Naruto manga right where it is now. Everyone would be like "WTF? I want to know what happens!"

Yes, not knowing and coming up with the end is always part of the game, but it seems like they ended it right in the middle of a sentence.

They need to add at least one more, the conclusion. Episode 13 couldn't have been the conclusion, there wasn't a resolve to anything and you didn't really figure anything out. There wasn't that eye opening moment.

It makes me wonder why they did this. I haven't read the manga, and don't plan on to. But, I get the feeling that either one of two things could of happened.

1. There wasn't enough funding for the anime.
2. There wasn't a large enough fan base to justify continuing the series.

I get the feeling that it was most likely the second option.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

It happens to quite a few animes. Look out on the web for possible OVAs.

They did seem to end it somewhat abruptly, but I recall hearing that the light novel series isn't even finished at this point, so it makes sense that the anime isn't entirely resolved.

But is this your first time experiencing this? It happens quite often, actually. Especially with 13 episode series. Maoyu, Say "I Love You", Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, and Kokoro Connect are examples I can think of from just the last few seasons or so that do the exact same thing. You just have to hope for a second season.

No harem anime is very very good.
It was ok.

Most anime ends on 12-13 episodes.
But anime that ends on lose ends/ties whatever tend to get more season, unless they got very bad ratings and dvd/bluray sales.

I didn't like the final, but not for the same reason as you.
I wanted A-chan to get him, she's the best one.
I actually dislike that silver haired girl a lot, send her back to her daddy :P

My guess is that there will be another season, thus why it ended like that.
Though I haven't cared enough for it to check what the tv ratings and such was for it.

I get the feeling you don't watch much Slice of Life/RomCom. 13 episodes is pretty par for the course for these types of shows and so are open ended endings as a way to keep all the fans from starting a war. The source material is still ongoing so instead of just coming up with a BS ending that everyone will complain about for "not following the original" they took the safe route. I will concur that the last episode pretty much blew chunks though, it was at a completely different pace from the rest of the series and lacked any of it's charm. It just felt "there".

The anime sold more than 7,000 copies, which is good enough for it to get a second season. The main factor will be how close it was to the source material when it ended and how fast the author pumps out chapters.

YES TO SEASON 2! No to chiwa hahaha. Masuzu!!!!!

I don't see the problem OP. Show ended fine imo and it seems like a season 2 should be on its way.

Honestly I think it was more aggravating that the show GAVE closure and then undid it in the last 10 minutes. It actually makes the male lead look like a dickhead. He confesses to the girl who likes him, she accpts. Making them officially a thing. Then he almost kisses Chiwa anyway?

Dickhead ;p

I thought it was a great ending. The whole show felt like it was a bit of a spoof on the genre, so that troll ending was kind of awesome and in line with what I felt that they were going for. I'd even go so far as to say that I'd be happy with no season 2; I sort of love having things left up in the air like that.

Idk i've discussed this many times on here but in the end being as unbiased as i can Masuzu won, Dude had a choice on who to pick and he chose Masuzu. Yea it was kind of open ended with the rest of them BUT at the same time Its really not like he SAID he loved and kissed them like he did with Masuzu. That why i felt that for at least THIS season Masuzu won. Hopefully we get a season 2.

Extremely off-topic but... Since I don't think it's really gonna happen between Eita and Ai, Ai-chan definitely needs her own spin-off magical girl show. Does everyone agree that this would be the greatest show ever made?

I want to leave it to my imagination but I'd rather have a season 2 lol

Masuzu may have won this battle but the war still rages on

Wouldn't Hime having a magical girl spin-off or whatever make more sense?
