So we have on Cruchyroll Three new mechas that might be very good. As a Space Sci-fi nut this is like a dream come true right now.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet: 5/5 so far.... Just watch the damn thing

Valvrave the Liberator 4/5: Gundam like start but could be good (crosses fingers) I like that this lead might be a bit more vengeful and just kill the enemy instead of 'I don't want war but I have to fight to end it' plot.

Majestic Prince 4/5: The humor... just nailed dot on right now but the there is other gundam or mecha tropies that I am not sure they are going dodge or use. At least there is an expatiation of why we don't have super amount of these op mechas running around in that universe.

Anyways what do you guys think so far of the mecha shows so far we got a bit of a ride to go to see if a few of these are fukes or good ones.

Gargantia is the standout show thus far. The characters we've seen are more interesting and it's a much more unique take on things than the other two. The end of episode 2 of Gargantia was just flat out awesome and the designs are impressing me.

I feel that Valvrave might be about a 3/5 as far as story and characters go. One thing that all three of these anime have is good mecha design, but Valvrave is going a very generic route so far. They're developing a giant mech underneath a highschool? Really? Oh, and another teenage character whom will be living the daily school life whilist piloting his mecha. Woo boy.

I'll watch it for the fights, but I'm not expecting much from the story.

As far as Magestic Prince, I'm not sure we're supposed to take this anime seriously at all so I'm just going to watch it a bit and see how it turns out. The character designs aren't doing much for me and a lot of the comedy has fallen flat thus far. This one is also at about 3/5 territory for me too.

Two average mecha anime and one standout anime. Even with those odds, it's nice to see mecha get some love outside of Gundam (especially since the last Unicorn episode won't be out until Spring of 2014).

Gargantia is pretty awesome so far. hope it keeps that pace up.

as I said in the Valvrave discussion, it reminds me of Gundams Seed and 00. I liked those, so I'm putting my hope in it to be a good anime.

Majestic Prince is a little hit or miss. it has it's good moments, but it also has some bad ones. but I'm watching it more because it's mecha. I love mecha. there haven't been nearly enough mecha anime lately.

Each had some interesting elements , so I'm hopeful for all 3. I really needed a mech fix, so I'm glad spring is full of them.

Gargantia as weird as it sounds is using some pretty hard core sci-fi theory of propulsion. That sphere above its head is a micro gravity well use to pull the suit where it wants to go it just has to change the location around the suit BOOM the mech moves in that direction. Allow for theoretical insane acceleration with out breaking the laws of physics since to produce this micro grav well it basically pulls the space around it. IE suit is in an invisible sphere that is getting pulled by the Micro grav well so every atom is being pull equally so no felt acceleration.

Well, I think this is what the mecha of Gargantia is using anyways.

Aye, I noticed it didn't have any kind of propulsion system on the mech. Really interesting how they're doing things in this anime, and episode 2 just further solidified how creative this is going to be.

The other two, in comparison, seem more traditional (and thus not as exciting). Except that the MC of Valvrave took like 5 minutes to read a screen, which automatically put him into dumbass territory in my mind. The only interesting part was the confrontation at the very end of episode 1, but we'll see how ep 2 looks.

I love Gargantia and Valvrave the Liberator so far.

However, I dropped Majestic Prince after two episodes. It was boring and I didn't find it funny except for one or two times.

Still, 2/3 isn't bad.

For me, this season's Gargantia stood out the most of all the science fiction/mecha series. Why?

Well, the premise of the story, that science fiction-y atmosphere, the character designs, the glorious visuals, soundtrack, along with some of the character interactions already intrigued my interests. I also kinda like Red's character and his little sidekick robot. The fact that the machine itself seems to act like his partner rather than just some tool makes me wonder how their relationship will be. Of course, Red and Amy has some strange interactions already. Oh and some of the action came out of nowhere like that laser from the end of episode 2. I don't rate series till they are finished generally but this one stood out to me the most.

Kakumeiki Valvrave: Sunrise, sunrise. The series started out okay I guess, kinda typical. Otherwise, the violence and drama in the latter half caught my interests. I'm curious on where this series will go as I think they will end the series in some sort of cliffhanger(?) as it is two-core. Also, the fact that one of the characters whom the main character Haruto seems to have a crush on RIPed in the first episode. Damn. Oh and that ending was violent. VAMPIRE.

I don't have much to say on Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince in all honesty as the series doesn't seem to take itself seriously so I'm not going to either. The character designs are weak, action mediocre, and in general not really good imo compared to the other two.

I would rate them as:

Gargantia >>> Valvrave > Majestic Prince

and yes, I needed to show more than one "greater than" sign to show how much I like one over the other

I have a feeling Gargantia might be my show of the season (that or Devil Survivor 2, we'll see after a few more eps of each if my feeling was right)

I just want it to be next weekend already so I can watch the second episodes of Gargantua and Titan. Really, I'd have to wait two to three episodes to say much.

I've said it before, but after this season I'm not sure I'll say it again, that mecha is my least favorite genre. I am liking Gargantia an awful lot, and at the moment both Valvrave and Majestic Prince seem worth watching. If I end up liking these all, then, well, I guess I'll have to look for another genre to not like.

Agree with what others seem to be saying in terms of how these rank. Based on first impressions of just one or two episodes: I rank Gargantia as best, MP as weakest, and Valvrave in between depending on just how it goes with that whole literal resignation of being human thing.

Personally, I thought Gargantia >>> Majestic Prince >>> Valvrave.

Valvrave just didn't click with me at all. The ending to the first episode was quite surprising though so I'm going to watch the second one to see how it is once they've established the premise in a bit more detail.

Majestic Prince is pretty good for me. I like the art style, the CG is pretty, and it's quite funny in places. It's nice to have something less serious.

Gargantia is the best by far. Very unique, great animation, great characters. This will the be one out the three I'll never drop.
