Madoka Magica. Shaft animes all look similar, but Madoka Magica looks a bit more held back when it needs to and crazy when appropriate. More tastefully done than most others.
Shin Sekai Yori has really nice artwork, even if there's some off model now and then. It fits the atmosphere quite well.
My Little Monster / Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun isn't anything groundbreaking, but was always nice to look at
Baka and Test is by Silver Link, so it's kind of bright and spastic looking to go with the humor

Since I don't feel like writing more explanations:
Tekkonkinkreet, Soul Eater, Gankutsuo, The Tatami Galaxy, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure

To me, just because something is just very polished looking (Madhouse animes, K Project) or has massive background budget (anything by KyoAni, The Mystic Archives of Dantalian) or is supremely artsy (Shaft animes) doesn't really make it "great looking." It's gotta have a good personality to go with it. If I see that way too much budget was spent on making the art detailed rather than making it good, then I get kind of depressed, lol

Moribito: I think that the artwork of the characters and the backgrounds are just beautiful.

Baka and Test: I really like the pastel colors and the fact that a lot of the shading is done by patterns. It's different and unique.

I watched Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet last night and thought it was really nice. The space stuff looks like a combination of Star Wars, Gundam 00, and Eureka 7. The Earth setting looks like Final Fantasy X crossed with how I pictured Pendragon: the Lost City of Faar. It's bright and the colors really pop out. Even if the show only turns out subpar, I would still buy the Bluray just to watch the scenery in 1080p.

I just watched 5 centimeters per second and I think It definitely has some of the best artwork ever, The scenery is just amazing.in every part.

I totally agree. The characters were lacking, though. Not sure why.

On my list are also:

Samurai Champloo & Afro Samurai. Fantastic artwork.

And I loved all the vibrant colors of Amnesia.

its been a while since iv watched it but ill give it a shot. warning spoilers

short version: Fishing anime about a quiet boy prone to panic attacks that becomes friends with some very interesting characters including an alien. There is alot of character growth in the story. In the end the world is in danger and its up to them to save it.
I really loved this anime. I liked it because: it was colorful, i liked the animation style, I found the story very interesting, I found it to be different than other animes I've watched and I really like things that are different.

I also like Soul Eater and deathnote

Soul Eater: very dynamic and bold design in both the characters and the backgrounds, bold and colorful. I find some of the exaggerated facial expression interesting. I really liked the type of characters and the world as I am very interested in supernatural things such as shinigami, witches, or the reaper

Deathnote: I dare you to make writing a name on a piece of paper look more dynamic. enough said :P

Edit: I liked the look of Puella Magi Madoka Magica to

Every scene is flawless, mundane task look amazing, backdrops look artistic, the lighting they use is excellent, and when it comes to action scenes it's jaw dropping.

Wow that looks amazing! cant believe I have never heard of this anime before! does it have a good story to it?

I'd say it has an exceptional story! Although it is very confusing, I should forewarn you this is not for everyone it has some very mature themes. There are 7 movies + 1 OVA, with an 8th film yet to be released. The first 4 movies are not in chronological order but I'd suggest you continue watching them regardless of how lost you may feel at times as it only adds to the experience. This is one of my personal favorite anime, I highly recommend it!

With Fate/Stay Night it really doesn't do anything spectacular or standout from the rest in terms of visuals or action scenes. If your talking about the Unlimited Blade Work movie though I retract that statement since with film quality animation it looks great and has one of my favorite anime fight scenes. Fate/Zero just blows everything out of the water though! Ufotable knows how to make shows look stunning that's for sure!
