This is the website I always use to check movie schedules. http://www.fandango.com/
Kendall Village 16 This theater is about 3 miles away from my house and it's the place I always go to. Say hello if you happen to bump into me. I got 2 more theater's pix to post later. These are the Movies I saw this month: March Shutter I went to see this film on Tuesday. It was done a little bit than the original, altho it's been awhile since i've seen the original and my memory is kind of shady. The story in the original is kind of vague to me cause of those damn subtittles. It's hard for me to follow the story. After watching the english version I finally understand what the waif in all of the photographs wants, way too many photos, talk about redundant. And what's up with those Cyanide bottles? There's about three or four 64 ounce empty bottles in her house. She only needs a few grams to kill herself. I guess we have to assume the rest she used to take a bath before killing herself. Even with the changes they made, it failed to scare me like the original did. Maybe, if I didn't see the original I might be able to enjoy it fully. I do like the ending on the Amecian version, he deserved what happen to him. Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! This is a such a riot movie, it definitely met my expectations and beyond. After it's two previous disappointing films ( Grinch and Cat in the hat), Horton certainly made up for it. From beginning to the end, this movie will make you wipe your tears from laughing ( cause I did). My favorite two parts are when Horton is telling a story that was translated into Japanese anime style. Hilarious and brilliant! The second funny part is almost at the very end, where Horton and the Mayor of Who-Ville are singing REO Speedwagon's "I can't fight this feeling anymore" that was done VH1 style , and yes, there's even a My Space parody in it, it's www.whospace.com (lol). This movie will definitely entertain kids of all ages and their parents won't be far behind. The credit should go to the two talented screenwriters Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. They stretched Dr. Seuss' short story book into an 88 minute film, adding a little bit to the story of Horton's adventure from Noolville to Mt. Nool and of course the Who-Ville in their speck. That required a lot of creative thinking to put this film together. I'm sure even Dr. Seuss will be proud, turning one of his beloved characters into an awesome movie. The Budget for this film is 85 Million, so far, the total gross is 86 million plus, I guess from this point on it's all profit (Kaching!) I loved all Dr's Seuss' books. "I like nonsense..It wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living. It's a way of looking at life through the wrong side of a telescope.....and enables you to laugh at all of life's realities" Dr Seuss. I do agree with him. The Spiderwick Chronicles When you'll go see this movie, you have to be open minded and watch it through the eyes of a 7 to 10 year old because this movie is all about fantasy. The screenwriter did a wonderful job of taking all the adventure of Jared and his two siblings from a series of 7 books to make it into 90 minute story. When I went to see this movie I was expecting it to involve spiders. Well, I didn't see any spiders but there are a lot of fast moving, ferocious toothed CGI Ogres and their power monger leader, Margarath. James D Bisseu and his production team did a wonderful job, a lot of imagination went into this movie and I can understand why it cost $100 millon to make . I really enjoyed it, like any other fantasy film before this , if you peel the layers, like peel the CGI and faeries, you will see that the story is all about the family, a resentful father who left them for another woman, a son who thinks his mother drove his father away from him and of course the old chiche sibling rivalry. But in the end it all worked out together altho I was kind of surprised with the demise of Murgarath (lol), it was pretty hilarious actually, Nick Nolte was awesome playing him altho they could have showed his real face instead of just one measly shot. The only problem I had with this film is Jared and his brother, Simon, when I saw them together I was like "oh they hired his real brother to play as himself" but when they smile the teeth looked the same, they could have given Simon prosthetic teeth to complete the illusion. Overall the film was great, very whimsical and loads of fun, take your ankle biters with you, I'm sure you'll certainly have a great "family bonding" experience (lol). 10,000 BC I have no interest whatsoever with this film apparently my family thinks I'm in need of a good family bonding. If Roland Emmerich is trying to copy the success of 300, someone need to wake him up. The story is really borring, they could of change the story to 10,000 BC when Barney Rubble met Betty -then- it will make it a lil' bit interesting and I think it will draw more people to watch it. Even the 2007 Anno Domini technology failed to bring those stupid looking bird to life, they should of ask National Geographic for help as a consultant or borrow a few of their CGI prehistoric bird in their archives, if you paint those birds green, they will looked like Dodo bird's long lost cousin from Hanna-Barbera cartoons. The malevolent servants of the God in there, a few of them ran like a queer as a three dollar bill and the rest looked like kids with down syndrome, if this is what a 75 million budget can do for extras, fire the make up artists or someone in accounting is been sticking their hands in the cookie jar. This movie does not looked like big budget film. I will give them two thumbs up for the Sabretooth Tiger, Mammoths and the Monuments. 10,000 B.C. = 10,000 Bull Crap Family Bonding = Priceless (Bangs head on the wall) |

I didn't much like Cloverfield either. It was a waste of time I thought. I've seen Juno, Bucketlist, Atonement, Persepolis, Diving Bell and the Butterfly, I am Legend, and some others, and I would recommend the ones I mentioned.
Especially Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Juno. |

I am Legend had me in tears when he had to kill his dog....SAMANTHA!!!! I didn't really care about Cloverfield...it looked stupid in the previews.

Lol they might be depriving us, this is why. It just all depends on where you at in Florida. Miami: Mi pelikula mi gusto en espaniol for favor (I am not a spanish speaking person so what I just said is made up) Center of Florida is the home of the rich old jewish people and retirees, I don't think their choices in movies is up to date and north of Florida It's the battle of magic kingdom versus Dr Doom's ride. If you go to Downtown Disney, they have a theater but it's surrounded by state of the art video arcade, Cirque De Soliel, Water Slide and bunch of other disney money makers. Which one would you rather go? It's a dumb question right
you can also add the other 2 amusement park in there. Busch Garden (you get to drink free sample of beers) and Sea World. So North is got a lot of distraction to watch movies. |

Diving Bell and The Butterfly is the name of one movie, and is nominated for Best Director at the Oscars. It's a film based on Le scaphandre et le papillon book by Jean Dominique Bauby. The film is directed by the American artist and director Julian Schnabel. The film and the book is about the last year of Jean's life in which he wrote a book using only the use of one eye, since he had a stroke and was "diagnosed" with locked-in-syndrome.
Persepolis is also based on a best selling French book (but this one is a comic book). It tells the story of a girl in revolutionary Iran and after the fall of Shah, and how she moves to Vienna and sees the world from various points of views. It's a very delightful movie. Oh, and I'm in New York right now, but both movies should be airing in Florida. If you're coming to the east, they're showing both at the Lincoln Theatre. |

I finally saw a preview of the Persepolis movie on TV...^-^ I'm not really into animated movies.
City of Men is coming out in Feb 18th for limited release. City of God was a great film and this is the unofficial sequel so I'm looking forward to see it. The Other Boleyn Girl comes out Feb 29th. I love period movies (Pride and Prejudice!) and Natalie Portman is a good actress. |

I would also recommend watching The Will Be Blood as there are some very good acting for a very solid, could-be-true story.

Daniel Day Lewis is the strongest contender for Oscar in Best Actor Category. A lot of the people in the media predicting he will win because look at the other nominees. Then again, Oscar academy has its own way to screw up people. Remember Gwyneth Paltrow (Shakespear in Love) VS Cate Blanchet (Elizabeth, I think) for best actress and Gwyneth got the Oscar plllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeaase!
major fauxpas on the Academy's part. |

Daniel Day-Lewis is very accomplished actor, and I would recommend anyone to watch My Left Foot, for which, some would argue he should have won the Oscar over Tom Hanks; and also watch In The Name of My Father.

I saw Jumper last week and it was crap. It was like a long pilot episode for a sci-fi show. No action, just a lot of repetitive special effects. There was a lot of plot holes and no creativity when it came to the characters. Wait for it on DVD.
I rented Becoming Jane and I absolutely loved it. I don't really like Anne Hathaway but James McAvoy was great in this movie. His eyes captured his emotions .. Hooray for Scottish actors!Just saw Atonement last night. I know it's been out for a while but I just finally saw it. I had the whole movie theatre to myself! Joe Wright knows what he's doing when it comes to romantic period movies (Pride and Prejudice!). Having recently watched Becoming Jane, I couldn't pass the opportunity to see James McAvoy in the big screen (girly tendencies). The movie score and set design was awesome. Another homerun for Wright. I hope his next movie, The Soloist, will be as amazing as the others. I have my doubts since there will be no hunky Scottish actor in that one. |

I went to Blockbuster to check these movies but they are all out, all the publicity surrounding his oscars nomination gotten people interested on his work. I might sign up on Netflix later this week. Is there anyone out here using Netflix? I just want to know if it's better than Blockbuster (they have internet service as well) |
