Nintendo Wii U Crisis
Posted 4/18/13
Ok so i mostly am a PC guy with Nintendo also on my side and i been noticing that the Nintnendo Wii U is doing painfully.

Is it either the confusion on who on earth this console is trully targeted towards? or the low power the Wii U has.

Do you think the Wii U has to have a new revision? If so what are your thoughts on it and just how much more should Nintendo buffer it?

Microsoft and Sony both have made very Unique and just... pointless "SONY PS3 Ultra Slimline" consoles and Nintendo has always stuck to one single console except with the very neat new colors Nintendo has put on there systems.

Its funny really on how Nintendo is no longer the graphical beast it used to be Sonys system was not even close back in PS1 and PS2 days and it seems to me that it finally cought up to Nintendo and Microsoft with the PS3.

So any way here is my thoughts on what they should change and include if they ever make a Wii U x or just Wii U Nu "New"

2GB of Random Access Memory is fine but needs more "5GB"
Memory matters so "36GiB White, 82GiB Delux, 1TeraBite special" (I counted in GibiBytes..)
Longer battery current equ= 3hrs increase it to 6hrs prolonged battery
Stronger GPU & CPU, Wii Us Espresso and Latte Microprocessor need a boost!!! by at least 120%
--- Espresso's Out Of Order Power PC cores seem fine
--------- Fully Backwards Capable with Broadway and Gekko is choice!! lets keep that.
--> + If this is true "Broadway Based Core Architecture" that has to go with a better Architecture.

Price should be $279 and $379.

...They haven't released any franchise games yet, that's why it's failing right now. A majority of Nintendo players don't care about the specs of a console other than drive size. As soon as a Mario-based game similar to Sunshine or Galaxy, a Zelda game, a new Smash Bros or a new Mario Kart comes out, the sales will start taking off. I can already tell you right now that I'll be picking one up the very day the new Mario Kart comes out...

Ok, i might get shot down for saying this. But I see the main problem with the Wii U, is its touch controller. Great idea but at the same time a bad idea. Devs cant simpley port over Z game from the ps3 or 360, to the Wii U, well unless there not going implement the touchscreen. I think Nintendo should of released something that could of competed with the ps4 and the up and coming xbox.

Im not bashing Nintendo, as ive loved every Nintendo system since my very first nes. I just feel like they've dropped the ball ever since the Wii came out

I think in a way you are right, i as a Nintendo guy never did care about the graphics its all about there fun games and if i want high end graphics that is why i have my PC and for consoles.. not so much but in the whole Wii U, PS4 and Xbox Infinity wars.. im sure the new Xbox will have the true graphics but again i never did care.

But the whole touch thing on the controllers is also something the other competition is doing like Sonys PS4 DualShock 4 and Rumors have it that Xbox new console will have a tablet based controller.

But its kinda neat to use the controller on the wii u

Likewise, if i want high end graphics i turn on my pc. Just the whole swinging your arms and moving around aspect is whats put me off. Might be down to my old age or my unfitness (we go with my unfitness/lazyness). What sucks, as my stubbiness is one reason why i havent got one. But if Nintendo makes a great zelda, i might have to invest in one.

Thinking about my last post, i never explained why i think the touchscreen controller is good and bad. The main bad point i think, is when you look down to use the touchscreen, only to look back up to see you've been killed. (I've got a very good idea, that im compelety wrong there, but its just something i think). The good points about it are endless, simply because two player games will be epic (going on the idea of one using the stick and buttons and the other using the touchscreen). But then again Nintendo has and (in my eyes) is the best console of two player games, both using the same tv. The PS and xbox are meant for single player use on one console. More multi player online, not saying the Wii U cant. As mario kart online is epic. Im mainly going of my experience, as i find the Wii gets used loads more at partys

I think what is hurting Nintendo is all the gimmicks they are using recently. I don't need motion controllers and I don't need a touch pad on it either. Not only are those aspects annoying to deal with, but are also a huge inconvenience to 3rd party developers. They are also lacking the 3rd party support they once had with the NES and SNES. Sure Nintendo's first party games are good, but the lack on consistent 3rd party titles is a big turnoff. They also seem to lack good online, which I personally don't care about for consoles, but this is the day and age where people want to get online and play games with their friends.

Basically Nintendo needs to cut the gimmick crap out of their consoles, get the 3rd party support it once had, and release a good controller again (seriously the SNES had the best controller layout ever).

Yeah i can see swapping from the controller to the television being a problem but in most cases it can have a unique advatage towards it, i always thought that the screen was for menu purposes only like adjusting settings switching characters.. but i think about it if it was trully for that main purpose the Wii U would be more Toast than it already is.

Yes your right mostly the Wii was always used without online support it still did well offline.

Well it depends really some people like it and others dont. I mean Sony mimmicked Nintendos motion controls with there dualshock 3 and the new one has a touchscreen also who knows what Microsoft will throw at its users.

Motion controls are ok but you have to know were to look like the new Bioshock infinite supports the PS Move with there Wand Wibble crap.. i dont know that gameplay to me feels to hard. But for like racers yes thats fun and other games get your right off the couch and active you know it has some great advantages but again not all people find it suitable to there likings making it hard to figure out what true Next Gen is.

I think Nintendo Needs new Leadership

Wii U is a joke.

Nobody is backing it, not even Nintendo.

I honestly don't know why Nintendo is wasting our time. They are sitting on billions of dollars accumulated over the years. If they were serious about giving us a truly amazing console, they could have done so. Instead they let their fears of entering the HD market scare them and are playing it safe. It pains me to see them like this but they will be left behind if they don't shape up soon.

I basically only use my Wii-U for playing Mario World and Fzero now. I know the big games will come out, but it's just taking too long and at this point Nintendo will be sitting at the bottom as the other consoles walk all over them. It's frustrating as a Nintendo fan because the possibility was there, they just chose to take the cheap lazy way out with the WiiU and it's going to cost them.

I might drop the cosole. All the games I want to play I can still use my Wii to play (metroid and the others) So I am kind of just "Well FUCK the PS3 is what I should have gotten." Besides PC gaming the PS3 makes the most sense for me.

For me, like others have said, I'm not too fond of how gimmicky the Wii-U feels at the moment. I'm not too picky regarding graphics, as I still have fun with SNES games such as Secret of Mana and Earthbound. And if I really want graphics, I can always just play my PC games.

I think there's several more problems that Nintendo is facing right now regarding the WIi-U.

- The economy. Most people still don't have a lot of spending money, so they don't want to splurge on another system, particularly one with few titles at the moment.

- Lack of awareness. A lot of non-gamers probably don't see much difference between the Wii and Wii-U (aside from the controller that is). Some people I talked to didn't even know its out.

- Lack of games. This is a problem every new console faces, and only time will tell if this gets resolved in a good way or not.

- oversaturation in gaming market. Lets see, aside from the Wii-U, you also have handheld consoles such as the 3DS, the Wii, 360, PS3, PC games, and smartphone apps. Some will debate that last one, but how many of you are willing to try Angry birds when its free, or maybe $1 for the ad-free version? Versus spending $30-60 for a game that may or may not be good?

Not sure what Nintendo should do though. Honestly I'm not exactly eager for the Wii-U, although that zombie game looks interesting, not enough to shell out $400 for.

Wii U as I expected didn't do so well, especially after some months of release, Nintendo CEO Iwata decided to make the nintendo announcements private away from public views and E3.
Less competition for the 2 big ones.
I do live retro as in Gameboy but Nintendo consoles need to step up a bit in my opinion.
