Imagining yourself as a character

When you watch an anime, or a movie or read a manga, or a book, do you ever imagine yourself as being one of the characters?

I'm just curious if I'm weird in doing this, or if it's a product of an overactive imagination or what, or if it varies depending on how empathetic someone is.

Also if you do do this, do you have a book or series that you like to revisit (whether re-reading/watching or through your own imagination) every so often? For instance my day dreaming usually revolves around entering the High School of the Dead world, but as a separate character.

I think most people do that.

You are not alone! Sometimes I create my own imaginary character.

I imagine myself as a character all the time especially when it's a really good series. I think it's just natural to get wrapped up in a good story and wonder what it will be like to be part of the story.

haha I never really think about it when I'm actually watching (too focused on the story), but the weird thing is that I sometimes subconciously mimic character personalities later on...

Thank God I'm not a minority on this. Was discussing it with a friend and only got a weird look from him in return lol. I just feel like if you can relate to a character you get more invested in the show.

Also part of the reason why there are certain anime, books, etc. that I don't fully enjoy.

I never imagined myself as a character in my favorite show, but I used to create a character who I felt was needed in one. ( ^-^ )

Yes, and that's why I'm attracted to anime.

Because, sometimes, I just like to pretend...that I'm...that guy.
(badass, rouge ninja, with plenty of ladies who fight for me.)

I imagine myself in shows and movies all the time. ...Yep.

All the time.

I often go back to reread The Wheel of Time, Mistborn, and Ender's Game series.
