All I saw was the trailer, but I think it is interesting. I am sure your reaction is exactly how people felt when Stand Alone Complex was announced. The show had its doubters, but people still watched it and SAC is often placed on best anime lists along the original movie. Honestly, I do not want to form an opinion until I actually see it. No expectations, no letdowns. If it is good, then that just makes it more exciting than I hoped.

I am a bit concerned that neither the director of Stand Alone Complex nor Yoko Kanno are returning, but I'll give it a shot.

For those of you just joining us: http://kotaku.com/5983591/the-new-ghost-in-the-shell-series-gets-its-first-trailer

I am a HUGE GITS fan. And I'm sure that many others who have seen the originals feel that this new series is going to be crap. The only way they will interest me is if the still keep the stories of each episode the same detective-style mystery-solving techno-lingo traits as they did in the good old days.

Motoko being shown in her teenage cyber-body is obviously a ploy to attract a younger audience instead of the adult demographic. The character models are obviously supposed to show anti-aging (the show being a prequel and all) but I still can not forgive Motoko's new look. Saito too. Which reminds me...

There are continuity errors GALORE. Saito was recruited from his days as a mercenary while in South America during the same time that Motoko, Batou and Ishikawa were in a joint operation with Britain and U.S. to smuggle the tactical nuke across enemy lines. If Motoko is shown as a teen and Saito is already here...what the hell? Batou is missing a chin. And tachikomas arent even around yet. even in the GITS 2.0 movie, tanks didnt even move like that red one in the trailer.

Keep in mind...this is only THREE YEARS before Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series started. For Aramaki to go all gray (you know what i mean) in that short of a time, is just...awkward. Must be the stress Motoko put him through. LOL. Im just not so sure about the story anymore...

If Japan needs to revive an old series...AIR GEAR, DAMMIT! At least they'll be more lenient with the boobage.

I forgot to mention that I'm going to miss the commanding voice of Atsuko Tanaka, but I have hope that Maaya Sakamoto can fill in those shoes.

Also, I am a bit skeptical about the new composer, Cornelius, whose only music credits related to anime is the Appleseed: Ex Machina movie, and both the animation and soundtrack wasn't the greatest, either...

Seems really interesting how they are gonna pull off a sequel to GITS: SAC having the whole team already there. I mean I agree that Saito shouldn't be there and neither should Tagusa since he was the rookie. I have my doubts but I can't wait to see it for myself

The new look will take some getting used to, that's for sure. If the quality remains, they I won't care about the new coat of paint.

As excited I am about getting more Ghost in the Shell, I don't think we need more than one thread to discuss it.
