Kill or be Killed...which button would you press!?
Posted 4/25/13 , edited 7/22/13

Ok so, Imagine you are kidnapped and strapped to a chair with only one arm free within reach of two buttons.
You were given only two choices:
1. Press a red button that will kill a random person (via poison injection by the kidnappers smiling doc ) from any possible country of whom you have never met, and you will be freed of any possible harm.
or
2. Press a blue button which will disable the red button(the blue button cannot be pressed until 5 minutes upon the buttons activation which will be activated at the same time)

The random person who would be on the receiving end of your choice is in the same situation as you are, and hold your fate in their hand because You! are on the receiving end of their buttons. If you both press the blue button, you both will go free. Which would you choose???Red or Blue? only 5 minutes tic-tok

I wouldn't have any doubts or hesitation in hitting that red button. I wouldn't have any guilt over it either.

Exactly (No, I am not quoting you and letting you break it.)- Damn. That was for Ink-e

This definitely reminds me of Virtue's Last Reward.

Red is the only safe option though. You can't trust the other person will hit blue just as they can't trust you will hit blue. The best option is to make sure you are safe. Besides, if I don't even know who it is killing I can just shrug it off and tell myself nothing even happened when I pressed the red button besides proving I am willing to kill people in a highly specific situation.

Red button ensures my survival.

Blue is more of a trust issue, do I trust a complete stranger who's in the same position as me? A sane person would choose red, but not me, I'll place my trust on a complete stranger as I have many times before, knowing that people aren't so bad and go blue ensuring both of us survive. I just hope I'm not up against the people above me.

I'll attempt to break it anyway, don't you worry.

Like you said, I probably wouldn't even think of the event once it was over. And if I did, I wouldn't think much of it.

you might be with a killer that stayed in the top prison and after you pressed the blue button he would just kill ya :[

Stupid question. Basically says that two random people have the chance to kill a random person for 5 minutes without taking blame. After that, you both walk away.

Just wasted 5 of my minutes, 5 of some random persons minutes and 5 minutes of whoever came up with this idea.

I don't think you really need to make an attempt to make it happen. D=

I think it would be different if you could see the other person on a tv/monitor or through a window and watch them die though. If we had to look at each other and actually see the consequences then it would be a bit harder to push the red button but at the same time it would allow us to know what the other is going to do and most likely both hit the blue button which would defeat the whole purpose of putting people in that situation to begin with.

Isn't the 5 minute thing only if you choose the blue button? If so then not only does red ensure your survival (if you are quick enough) but it also saves time. Red buttons are fantastic.
