I choose not to press any button. That way whoever the killer kills is on the killer's hands, and not mine. In the mean time, expect me to resist with all of my might.

Why would you trust such an individual to keep their end of the bargain anyways? They have already demonstrated that they have no respect for human life, so chances are they are going to kill you anyways.

I would rather die than commit murder.

Am I expected to ask which one I am now or something?

With a world population of approx. 7,081,368,100 losing 4,956,957,670 people would be extremely difficult if not impossible to hide from anyone who pays attention to the world at all.

I'd like to point out to all the people who want to press the red button that if it wasn't for the people who want to press the red button it would be perfectly safe to just press the blue button. It's not like the "Dark Knight" situation in which after some time they would all die and there's the "let's save at least our lives" element. If anyone was perfectly - hell, even just marginally - rational, blue button would be the logical solution.

I'll add that if I was the sadist setting up the game, I'd rig the chair so that pressing the red button kills the one who presses it, not the other guy. And I'd call the game "Operation Darwin award".

I like this oh and thanks for seeing the difference in the "Dark Knight" and my post.

That question reminds me of a story I read. I forgot the name, but it was about a married woman who was given a red button by a stranger. The man tells her that if she presses the button, she would get $1,000,000 dollars. However, a random stranger will die if she pressed the button. In the end she pressed the button, and her husband "fell" onto the subway tracks and got hit by a train.

It was called "Button, Button", IIRC. The plot also got turned into a Twilight Zone episode, playing out in much the same way.

Oh yeah. That's the name. Thanks!

Can I see the other person?

If I can see him/her, then I'll probably press blue.

If not, red, but I'd feel guilty about it for a while.

if 70% of the world really died it will be impossible for you to find out that but only after some long while when they search~ its not like when someone dies it sends a signal to some computer and hey he dead ;o~ unless there is such a thing but eitherway even if there was it would not be made public xD but anyways its useless to kill others~ its just like killing ur self~ ur no god to be able to do more alone~

I suppose I should have asked if this is 70% of the worlds population dying off all at once or over time. All at once would certainly not be impossible to find out. Over time would be reflected in the census that is done and still be noted though. The only thing would be how quickly it died off over whatever amount of time it would be that would determine how much attention it got. Media and government love stories like that though and so they would definitely make it public. It is useless to kill others in most situations but there are of course situations where it is not as it preserves your own life. If you consider your life not worth saving regardless of the situation though that is entirely on you. It is also far from killing yourself. I kill you and you get buried, assuming I get away with it or am let off if it is one of the circumstances where it is self defense and such, while I continue to live on. A person doesn't have to be god to take life or create it.
