For One Piece if comes down to "dose the show manage to reach Arlong Park"
Launch One Piece today with a 13 episode run, just enough to hit the end of maybe Buggy or Captain Kuro's story and it's odds of getting a 2nd set of 13 would be 50/50 Arlong Park is pretty much the break line for One Piece. You either give up on it before then or you reach that point and are properly hooked for the rest of it. |

But its worth it, since there will be alot of awesome episodes after all those Fillers. Its not worth watching them, but i can tolerate simply skipping them and waiting untill it gets back on the story line. |
If I don't have to do it, I won't. If I have to do it, I'll make it quick.

Consider Hunter x Hunter Completely relaunched series, no filler, very faithful to the original manga and doing quite well. |

I can't speak for One Piece as I've never seen it.
Naruto would do just as well. The mainstream anime fans don't have much else to follow. They're not bothered about high school teen shows. They wants action and they want cool, crazy looking characters. Something Naruto has much of. More people love Naruto than hate it. It's the number one anime in the world and will be for years to come. There's a reason behind that; a strong cast of characters that are interesting and beautifully drawn, the soundtrack hits all the right buttons and the action set-pieces are can often be mind-blowing, it is also an emotional anime for many fans who have been there since the start. When Naruto hits its stride, it's fantastic anime. Bleach would do OK. The real issue being just how long the story takes to start rolling. As a few people have already said, the show only gets going from episode 20-25+. I have lent my Bleach season 1 DVD to many people, and they all give up soon after the first 10 episodes. But once it gets going, Bleach can impress greatly. Again, it's got what mainstream fans want; the character designs, swords, death gods and special moves, etc etc. This is the stuff that sells. And if it sells, it'll go on and on. Whether you like it or not. The question here wasn't about how good the shows are, it's about how well they would do. And for all the reasons I've said, I said they'd be fiiiiine. This is all my opinion, of course. I just think a lot of people are part of the sneer crown these days. In my opinion the two shows have gone on too long. I dislike the fillers in both animes as they have degraded the shows quite a lot. But Naruto and Bleach have done a lot for the anime world. People forget that. And I also love the fact that Naruto is the number one anime on Crunchyroll. I bet the sneer crowd just loooove that. |

chrome_mist wrote: Naruto and Bleach would do well since they're generic enough to fit in with the shonen wave. Though to be honest both their 100+ episode catalogs would be practically non-existent since they will fade immediately after the first half (26 episodes) and be axed in their 52nd episode. I'm not a fan of Bleach or Naruto, but wonder what you think has changed so much in the anime world over the last ten years, that if they launched today they wouldn't do as well? |

For starters, I'm assuming Fairy Tail, Blue Exorcist and SAO would have already taken their spot as the biggest shonen anime ever. If they came out now, they will be nothing new nor special hence they will probably get ignored by the general public. ![]() |

Naruto would do good since everyone loves ninjas.
Bleach would do good, too, because everyone likes samurais and swords. One Piece would be the underdog (like it was) and then rise above the two other titles since it's author actually builds the world around the Main group's in much detail, giving the story the power to go in for the looooooong haul. |
