It's a damn shame there won't be any yaoi :P

Bromance probably, like Kimi to Boku.

I don't care if the story is lame. I don't care if the entire series will be fillers. I don't care if the characters are underdeveloped and/or dumb.

All I care about is EYECANDY!!!!!

(In this case, anyway. )

I shouldn't do this but let's feed the fujoshi's of the thread.

Director of free is Hiroko Utsumi which directed 4 eps of k on, 4 of hyouka, 4 of nichijou, and 1 of chuuni and tamako. With that said quote from her when she worked on ep 7 of hyouka (the bath episode)

I oversaw production and storyboarding of episode 7 of Hyouka.

I was able to show the guys in a fresh light, with ever cool Hotaro getting a bit tipsy after his long bath, plenty of cute steamy stuff and those red faces – really just down to the hot water or something else!? Really cute, I think.

Of course, what I really took care over was the changing scene.

When they are changing and raise their arms, I took care over their ribs and the shape of their arms crossing (etc).

I actually tried getting the character designer to demonstrate just how sexy a guy stripping can be, but he declined.

[...]

Also I must confess – Satoshi’s pantsu are pink because of my preference.
~Hiroko Utsumi

Another reason why I will not watch the anime.

IT will be eye candy and everyone will be so distracted by said eye candy that who the hell knows the plot, about tennis right?

- For an internet FREE of KyoAni myths
- http://vanishingtrooper.wordpress.com/2013/04/27/guest-post-by-yuyucow-for-an-internet-free-of-kyoani-myths/]

Due to their explosive popularity, talking about KyoAni has become a need for those who feel compelled to stay relevant in anime discussions on the internet no matter how little an idea they have about the subject.

With so many people willing to make their uninformed opinions loud and clear, mythbusting the studio has become more common than it should amongst the few idiots who care enough to do it.

[...]today we’ve witnessed countless people say that “FREE! is their first series for women”. Oh boy, where do I start with this one.

Maybe by once again reminding that KyoAni are KyoAni’s first fans and also, for the most part, also happen to be women?

K-ON’s insane popularity makes it an excellent target for anyone with the agenda to prove KyoAni are nothing but a bunch of fiends pandering to vile latenight otaku and thus destroying mature anime, but facts are facts and the series has quite the following amongst female highschoolers and people who simply don’t watch anime.

With that tired tired topic out of the way, allow me to tackle a somehow more ridiculous claim that’s been echoing today: Tumblr made FREE’s announcement possible. Now if this was just a bunch of silly comments by people who don’t care enough about anime to have a minimal understanding of how the industry works I’d shrug it off, but when professional companies join the craze then it becomes a bit worrying.

However what’s truly worrying is the unhealthy attitude towards the studio. The conviction that it should be you who dictate the future of the studio, even though what makes them unique is the dedication to the projects they pick themselves.

Couldn't you argue that KyoAni is actually not a money-grubbing studio because of their lack of more Haruhi? To me, that's probably the most glaring case of money on the table left untouched in the entire industry.

As for FREE! I more or less support KyoAni in all that they do, and have no problem with this being made. Nothing interesting to contribute here

I'll be watching this as I was hooked when the CM was released. As for 'the girls who complain about male pandering fanservice' I haven't seen many of them. Most females who watch anime are so used to this kind of fanservice they watch it no problem. It's funny that when the tables are turned men cry out in horror. Anyone remember what happened after episode 8 of Shinsekai yori ..

I've also seen people on Tumblr saying things like 'we did it guys' and 'our dedication made this happen.' I think that small crowd is just crazed fans who are far too excited. There's plenty of evidence that Kyoani had been working on this for some time, but it was possibly dropped or put on the back burner at some point.

I've never heard of this and I Will not watch anymore than I already have (pv). Is there anyway I can make this dissappear from my screen so I don't even see the title when browsing through the list?

Not to mention it's an anime about........ Swimming.... Wtf is that shit. Would rather watch golf or paint dry.

I definitely don't mind Shojo series. Series like Skip Beat, Nodame, Itazura Na Kiss, Lovely Complex, and Nana have some of the best anime stories out there.

But this i'll likely avoid like Prince of Tennis. Still, glad the girls will get some eye candy, bout time IMO.

Yes it is, I don't see any entertainment value in it one bit. I don't even see how one can make an anime about swimming without fanservice or it having to be for a specific gender audience.

Not traumatized, glad women have something to watch all to themselves. I just don't want to see this title on my viewing list.

Were you not watching the 2008 Olympics when this happened?

If anything remotely this awesome happens during the show, then it will probably be worth watching.

Don't watch it. CR isn't all about what *you* specifically want to watch. It's a service that caters to a lot of different people. Watch what you want and stop complaining about what other people want to watch.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for this man and his accomplishments, world class athlete, but not even him appearing in the anime would make it worth it.
