Any ideas on what the stipulations would be for nominations?

MAL's top 50 movies.

Would it be possible to use the top 50 from ANN (check movies, and "order by rating")? I think both are missing a lot of really good underdog titles, but ANN seems slightly less... fandom-generated. And a bit more mature.

Both have a good selection, I just like ANN's list a bit more.

But either one would work fine.

Edit: For some reason I can't link directly to the search results without the list getting screwed up.

Try this link:

The 50th movie on that list is Ghost in the Shell as of the time I make this post. I don't mind which list is used, personally.

Ah yeah :D

My vote goes to Space Brothers.
Great and stuff.
And I haven't watched the other one.
And Mutta and Hibito's mother is played by the same lady who plays Luffy from One Piece, so it's pretty hilarious every time she speaks XD

Space Brothers

I think both series are similar quality wise, but Space Brothers is slightly more engaging.

Since I'm batting zero here, I abstain this round, so as not to jinx whichever one is more deserving.

I'm not sure if I should be including movies w/ sequels though.
Garden of Sinners have like... 7 episodes if I'm not mistaken.

Then there's Evangelion too.

Natsume yuujinchou chi, because it has a great story line and is well drawn out. I love the music in this series, its both serene and heart warming.

That's true. Although Kara no Kyoukai is more like one long movie broken up into parts.

And the link doesn't work for some reason, it puts Jin-Roh at #9 and it was barely in the top 100 before.

For some reason the underlined part disappears, although it works if you cut and paste it.

I guess I don't mind either list, ANN just has more titles I'd personally prefer.

Space Brothers!

I find Muttas struggle a bit more compelling than Natusumes.

If you're going to do movies, maybe take the top 50 ACTUAL movies from MAL and no OVAs.
It's also going to be hard watching Garden of Sinners movie 5 w/o seeing the 4 before it.
Then you have the 3 EVA movies as well....

I'll let you figure it out.

Edit: Personally I like Mals list over ANN... I find ANNs lack of Miyazaki disturbing to say the least.

My vote goes for Space Brothers again. I like the realism of some characters.

The same reason as last time, I could not get into Natsume Yuujinchou. And I'm normally a fan of fantasy/supernatural stuffs. I just can't connect with its characters or story... and the cat annoys the heck out of me

I've always used MAL for reviews, ratings, etc.
ANN, to me, seems full of pretentious pricks.
