I admit that If I ever go on an anime watching phase again (2 so far) sports and yaoi is the bottom two.

I mean I've seen 18 sports animes. I think that is good enough.

Have you put them in your completed list?checked the Stats on like 20 sports anime yeasterday, you weren't in the list :P
(I was bored hehe).

4. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai - Entertaining and pleasing to watch.
3. Kuroko no Basket - I hate basketball with a passion, but this managed to impress me quite a bit.
2. Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - Very in-depth show that started off very well, but started to become bland later on.
1. Black Rock Shooter - I stopped watching this anime after the first episode simply because it was boring.

4. Black Rock Shooter - I loved this anime. It is one of my favorite's from 2012. The character's were super twisted , and the action parts were a feast for the eyes.

3. Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - This was pretty damn entertaining. The last episode will probably stick in my head for life. And you gotta love the main character's personality.

2. Chuunibyo Demo Koi ga Shitai - I haven't seen this yet, but I totally plan on it. I wasn't able to watch anime during the Fall 2012 season, so there's a couple shows I still need to catch up on. I've heard good things about this show.

1. Kuroko no Basket - I'm not into the whole sports anime thing, so I don't intend to watch this. The friend who got me into anime once showed me the first episode of Prince of Tennis, and I was like "that's. . .really. . .cool. . .yeah." I also hear that this anime has a lot of manservice, which I have no interest in seeing.

Only sports anime I've watched before was the soccer one titled "Knight..." Not really something I've thought about watching in anime form. I haven't seen Kuro or the Humanity anime so I won't be voting on these.

4. Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - Anyone not rating this show 4 points have not seen it. Dark humour and quality all over the place. And fairies. Fairies everywhere...
3. Kuroko no Basuke - Haven't seen this show but I refuse to give the remaining two 3 points.
2. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - Amusing show, maybe I will even complete it one day.
1. Black★Rock Shooter - Because no. And overhyped junk. Did I mention no? No.

so a few considered sports I watched not for the sports

suzuka watched for romance
ro kyu bu for lolis
over drive the girl
bakusou kyoudai because mini 4wd are amazing and I happen to have both the brother's 4wd's XD

I built this magnum 10 years ago.... runs amazing

not sure how many people watch sports anime for the sports. sports animes the sport portion seems superficial. One can argue pokemon is a sport's anime with the competing N all but many consider it not a sports.

also reading the post above mine I filled in my head

anyone not rating a 4 will be banned >.> lol

I'm watching Prince of Tennis for the sport, oddly enough.
But since it's also a shounen, there is awesome move moments too.

I watched Ro-Kyu-Bu for the lolis too.

I started watching Kuroko becaus of hot guys xD Kept on watching becaus of awesome moments and hot guys hehe.

Watched Cross Game for the sport and romance.
Watched One Outs for the awesome moment and the sport.
Baseball is awesome.

@shaunj07
Area no Kishi or Knight in the Area.
I stopped watching that becaus they handled the sad stuff in ep 2-3 so very poorly. It wasn't really sad, and then it became just stupid.
Soccer seems to be where I draw the line.
Inuzuma Eleven is stupid too.

This is tricky.

I think I disagree though; there are stories out there similar to Akagi (such as Kaiji) which I'm not remotely interested at all. So while Akagi's character was pretty cool, I don't think I would've really cared without the mahjong.

Same for Saki, and to a lesser extent Chihayafuru (although that cast would be strong enough in its own right).

And I never would've watched all of Hikaru no Go (twice) if it wasn't about playing go.

4. Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - The best anime that employ Black Humour that I have seen in ages. What impresses me about this anime is that there are many ironical allegory of the real world presented in the most morbid manner.

3. Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! - A comedy anime about the growing pain of childhood delusions... Something that we all share at some point of our life.

2. Black Rock Shooter - The story of this anime is just plain HORRIBLE. If it wasn't for the cool visuals, I would have drop this anime in the flash.

1. Kuroko no Basket - For some reason, this anime pisses me off... Don't ask me why, I just don't like this anime more than BRS.

4 Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita (Unique story, beautiful colors, well executed humor, got heart.)
3 Kuroko no Basuke (Haven't seen it, so I'm giving it benefit of the doubt.)
2 Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai (From the few episodes I've seen, I will never be into this.)
1 Black Rock Shooter (Incredibly dull story, didn't like a single thing about it.)

I don't understand anything about Mahjong but I still enjoy Saki. I think it's mostly about their relationships anyways and their Mahjong play is so full of supernatural and superstitious elements that it (edit, left a sentence unfinished, hmm) is enjoyable without understanding what is going on.

I didn't know anything about Karuta until Chihayafuru. Now I have a set of cards and a CD with readings

But I still couldn't get into Kuroko no Basuke. Can't watch basketball on TV either.

I was clueless about mahjong as well; still am kind of, my defense is terrible and I'm awful at reading discards.

It was a lot of fun to learn about, though. Just wish I knew people to play it with.

I just think if you took the mahjong out of Saki, it would've been a pretty generic yuri harem (I assume those exist).

Is there a decent online game or app somewhere I wonder or is it something that really needs to be played in the flesh? I have a friend who plays it but he lives in HK...
