Shinsekai Yori, is still probably one of the best things I have seen in awhile. Psycho Pass is a good show, but I am having a very hard time getting past whatever episode I am on, while I've been able to just marathon shinsekai.

I definitely have to say Shin Sekai Yori. The story was amazing, kept me guessing until the end! Made it a weekly tradition to discuss theories with my house-mate after each episode, good times haha.

Psycho-Pass

I dropped SSY after the second episode, really did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Anyway, my vote goes to Psycho-Pass. It was my favourite anime from last year. It had a good storyline and the characters were decent. It kept me in suspense very week.

Given these two as the final choices, neither of which were on my own personal list, I'll go with Psycho Pass again... I really tried to watch New World, but as I've stated before, I had dropped it after about two hours of trying. I just didn't care about any of the characters by then and can't invest more than a full-length feature movie's time in something if I still don't like it by then. This is entirely a subjective personal reaction on my part, and has nothing to do with examining the effort that was put into music and/or art which I agree was quite good. At least from the first episode of PP, I felt sorry, and a little scared, for a person being thrust rather blindly into a situation and having to get on the job experience, plus have to trust some rather shady strangers, so I wanted to see how she would deal with that. It just grabbed me right away and no one in FTNW did. For me, character empathy still wins out over budget.

I'm glad this is up for a couple of days, I will need some time to think it over.

Someone asked my opinion in this thread nine days ago on my thoughts for best anime of the year and I answered then: Shinsekai Yori! So I need no time to think about it; pre-analyzed :)

I'm afraid the only thing that post accomplished for me is to make me want to see Tari Tari. (I always meant to give it a go, but I keep forgetting)

These two shows are probably, objectively speaking, the two best of the year. I've disagreed with a lot of the results up to now, but if we took the results of people that are good judges of shows (I understand it's arrogant of me to presume I know what makes a good judge -- I don't care) I think these two would probably be damn near the top, if not the very top. Both were excellent in almost all areas, and the things they did well were very similar. There were some things Psycho-Pass did better, and some things Shin Sekai Yori did better. I'm going to give this a good think. Your propaganda has not yet swayed me.

Psycho Pass: I seriously learned a lot from watching it, it was an anime that required me to go wiki for deeper understanding. The generic characters were there for a reason; to show that how society treats a social deviant (Makishima) and subsequently showed how the clash between 2 ideologies played out.

Shinsekai Yori.
Because Psycho Pass must be slapped down in revenge for beating Space Brothers.

My vote goes to Psycho-pass.

I really like the characters. They're more badass when compared to characters in Shinsekai yori.

Shin Sekai Yori. For the final round, this decision is entirely too easy for me; it wasn't a perfect show, but it was vastly better than Psycho-Pass, which didn't appeal to me at all.

Shin Sekai Yori is creative, suspenseful, epic...Psycho-Pass is none of these things, but I still expect it will win, because its concept, while generic, hits all the right buttons to make most Westerners fall in love with it. And a lot of people are still afraid of yaoi, apparently.
