A friend found this for me:

http://gamedesign.jp/flash/mahjong/mahjong_e.html

It's very complete; I had to google some other resources to figure out the finer points on a few things, though.

Like I'd keep making hands that'd work but the game wouldn't let me win because I didn't have a multiplier (you have to have at least one yaku to win a hand). And then the three-layered rules for being furiten, which wouldn't let you win off another player's discard. With those out of the way it was a pretty smooth learning curve more or less.

And the scoring panel at the end of every hand is great.

I'd need to get a book or a person to teach me how to improve past the basics though (but it's still fun to play I think).

Now if I could find something like this for go.

PS: A simple rule of thumb to make sure you have a yaku when is to keep your hand closed/concealed (don't call kan, chi, or pon on anything). You can have a concealed kan if you have three of a kind already and you draw the fourth, but anything else will open your hand. That helps simplify things quite a bit.

4- Kuroko no Basuke (I've never really liked basketball, but I loved the characters in this one.)
3-Jinrui wa Suitaishimashita (I liked the story of this. Really unique.)
2-Black Rock Shooter- (I really didn't like this one too much. I was expecting a lot more.)
1- Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai (never watched.)

4 - Chuunibyou (Very fun and silly, but still serious at times; interesting characters.)

3 - Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Only watched a bit of it, because those fairies are the creepiest thing I've ever seen, but it seems creative.)

2 - Kuruko no Basuke (Never watched, giving it the benefit of the doubt.)

1 - Black Rock Shooter (Kind of a mess, hard to make sense of anything. The OVA was much better.)

I have only seen one of these, so I'll understand if my vote is not counted. With that in mind...

4 - Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (The randomness of this anime is hilarious, expecially when combined with the main character's personality.)

3 - Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai (I am a huge fan of Kyoto Animation. From what I know about this one and knowing the type of shows I like, I can easily see this one ranking high with me. I'll just have to wait until Sentai Filmworks releases it on DVD.)
2 - Black Rock Shooter (I just watched a trailer for it, and I find the craziness of it very intriguing for some reason.)
1 - Kuroko no Basuke (While it is in my Crunchyroll queue, it's not that high on my priority list, likely due to my interest, or lack thereof, in basketball. There's still a good chance that I will enjoy it; I would just be more inclined to watch it if it was called "Kuroko's Baseball" instead.

I don't understand anything about Mahjong but I still enjoy Saki. I think it's mostly about their relationships anyways and their Mahjong play is so full of supernatural and superstitious elements that it (edit, left a sentence unfinished, hmm) is enjoyable without understanding what is going on.

I didn't know anything about Karuta until Chihayafuru. Now I have a set of cards and a CD with readings

I was clueless about mahjong as well; still am kind of, my defense is terrible and I'm awful at reading discards.

It was a lot of fun to learn about, though. Just wish I knew people to play it with.

Basically knew Another would make it to another round. Strong contender that is.

Jinrui is the only one I've seen due to Chuunnibyou being TAN-only(argh!) and BRS was NicoNico.

4. Jinrui was Suitai Shimashita- because this was darkly funny, Pion(eer) was moe and the OP and ED were both great. Watashi for the win.

3. Kuroko no Basuke- because it's a good sports anime which is an underrated genre.

2. Chuunibyou- because KyoAni is still worth more than BRS at least. KyoAni has been very disappointing of late.

1. Black Rock Shooter- because trainwreck, and this is makes some nostalgic for the OVA since that was better. Not even Okada could save it.

4. Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita - One of my favourite anime of that season for sure. Watashi has to be one of my favourite characters, and I really liked the story and the sense of humour used.
3. Kuroko no Basuke - I haven't watched this yet, but I don't like the two other anime at all...Sports anime aren't really up my street, but I will give it a go eventually.
2. Black Rock Shooter - Meh...I haven't watched it, doesn't seem that interesting to me.
1. Chuunibyou - Hated it from the first episode.

You should plan to watch this one too, it's the weirdest anime of 2012 at least xD
It's hilarious and random.
