Yeah, you have a good point.

This is also where fansubs can shine, since when references are dropped they can stick a quick explanation in a corner if they're so inclined. Even if it's just a "for more information, google this topic" sort of thing.

I actually don't think I've seen a fansub do something like that in a couple years, but it's nice when they do.

That's probably the thing I miss most about getting all of my anime from fansubs. That, and the money I spend on subscriptions.

My vote goes to Psycho-Pass
Seen both Nisemonogatari and Psycho-Pass and enjoyed Psycho-Pass a lot more.

Space Brothers

Both are good. I love slice of life anime and Space Brothers is the better slice of life anime, which is why my vote goes to it.

Thinking aloud. Will vote later.

Space Brothers:
Pros: Many, many things, including Space
Cons: 3 recap episodes in a row. Many days in the desert.

Kids on the Slope:
Pros: Many, many things, including Jazz
Cons: "My Favorite Things" is far from my favorite thing. And I especially didn't like it as sung in the show.

Kids on the Slope

Loved the music moments, and as I've said before, the festival surprise duet, My Favorite Things had me Moanin'. My son got into jazz music because of this show, and he had never shown signs of interest in it before.

I also preferred seeing a shorter series being able to tell a (nearly) complete story without going into five seasons, but I do sort of wish it had at least a second season where they could have followed through and made something of it. It could have introduced people to so much more besides Bill Evans and Art Blakey, Dave Brubeck would have fit in there well, and maybe one of the girls could have discovered hidden vocal talents, Ala Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holliday, or even more currently, Diana Krall. But don't mind me, I'm just rambling now...

Kids on the Slope Great art, music, and loved how they talked. I dropped Space Brothers after about 30 episodes

I abstain.

I've yet to see either of these, from what I hear though space brothers is supposed to be really good.

Space Brothers

By a lot. Both shows are pretty similar in feeling, but Space Brothers is better in almost all comparisons. Kids on the Slope had well-done characters, a decent story, Yoko Kanno, and a nice feeling overall. However, I couldn't help but feel that the show was being a slight bit overly-dramatic at times. Space Brothers just makes me feel awesome and psyched about life, and really, that's all it needs to beat Kids on the Slope. I don't really have much more to say about it right now -- this one didn't take much thought.

Edit: I will say, though, that Kids on the Slope wins if I'm only considering the first 12 episodes of Space Brothers, so to be fair, Kids on the Slope has a lot more content per episode. With any long-running show, though, once you get attached to the characters, almost everything seems better.

Space Brothers
Great one, even though it's slow paced. But it's done so well.
I'm so bad with words, so I'll just leave it there

The problem with this round is: I said "no" during the pre season pick of which animes I will watch. There are certain animes that simply do not grab my curiosity nor my attention.

I "axed" them off my list before this tournament even began. They just somehow by the collective will of the community ended up here.
