Natsuyuki Rendezvous, A Josei manga about a man who falls for a widow working at a flower shop that her dead husband haunts. Really unique and great.

There is a theme there, and it's josei! Sadly josei isn't that popular these days. I think Chihayafuru may be the most popular josei manga and anime these days but I'm unsure.

Does give me hope for marriage at the end of Chihayafuru though! That would be something, she finally notices she is a girl and there are some cute guys around her LOL I love the show but wow, all she sees is Karuta! Karuta! Karuta! So far... (read the manga!).

I adore Josei (and Seinen as well) because they off far more mature, and realistic views on many different things. I have not read Chihayafuru yet, but I plan to. I'm at the moment reading Bokura Ga Ita, a Shoujo manga that is JUST like a Josei manga lol.

Yeah, the demographics can be odd. Chihayafuru feels like shoujo but it runs in a josei magazine so we should call it josei. The reverse happens as well, Sukitte Ii Na Yo has sure gotten mature in the last few chapters, seems about ready to either end or outgrow shoujo.

I love seinen and especially seinen with some romance though it can be hard to find a good one these days.

Haven't checked out Bokura ga Ita but perhaps I should... thanks.

I haven't read it, but I know that Futari Ecchi deals explicitly with a newlywed couple - both are virgins, and the series is about how they deal with sexuality. Seems a curious case as it's classified as seinen, not hentai or anything, and seems to have more of an 'educational' purpose than anything. Many people speak of it with great affection, I always thought I wanted to read it but never got down to it. Maybe I'll convince my gf to read it together, that would be nice .

Jellyfish Princess (Kuragehime) is a really great Josei manga with some new, funny elements. All the characters are really likable - highly recommend it! Also, ever heard of the old manga Banana Fish? This is a classic Shoujo series that was super popular in Japan, and it is the MOST un-Shoujo thing I have EVER come across. It is JUST like a Seinen manga. It's really superb, so don't get thrown off by the 80's artstyle. It's very dark, gritty, violent and tragic, and urban crime life centered (in America). It does have some shonen-ai though...

Sorry folks, I'm getting us off topic today, marriage, where is the marriage?

But thanks for the recommendations.

Saywut?

The two main characters were married from the beginning of the series.

FYI, the series is now streaming at both Hulu and TAN.

Use TAN if you have a subscription there (ad free) and Hulu if you don't (since TAN would just be using the Hulu player).

For dub haters, sorry, but only the dub is available.

I have found that most anime and manga are really bad at resolution. You get to the end of the story and instead of having an episode that says what happens to everyone, it just ends. It is like they look at it, and say, "instead of resolving anything, let's just end now!" This usually also kills any prospect for marriage even at the end. Like in fma brotherhood instead of it showing the main character's lives, it literally shows a picture on the wall! I would also be super interested in the comedies and romcoms you suggested. My favorite idea though is of a husband and wife in an action/supernatural anime where they kick trash together!
That is why I love Sword Art Online, because although they only get married in game, in the first season it is no longer about "when are they gonna tell each other they like each other already!" which is the entire plot for lots of romcoms. It is more about how they face their challenges together and overcome them. I was not too disappointed that they aren't married in real life, because, they are still in high school, and it did have a lot of resolution at the end of the second season. It is probably my favorite anime that's come out in the last two years. I think you are right, we need more! the only problem is that a lot of the anime fanbase is in high school

I find that is a problem with almost all forms of fiction, heck, most forms of art. A satisfactory resolution/ending/sense of completeness is the most difficult aspect of art.

Adding to the problem with manga and anime is the serial nature of the art form. When the basic modus operandi is to continue the story for as long as it remains profitable, there is little call for writers that are capable of crafting tales with strong endings. Instead the style of writing that would be most profitable is a style that is capable of extending stories without straining credulity.

As for the marriage question, magicuser360's list is commendable. If you are looking for something seinen that deals with marriage,
