It seems to be 14 episodes according to this list: http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/04/18-1/what-japanese-consumers-are-paying-for-this-seasons-anime

14 or 15 actually. There is one OVA per Blu-ray box and there are three boxes so I thought there were 15 episodes. But only 12 will be broadcast on TV/Crunchyroll.

While I really like Gargantia, The story never really breaks any new ground. A lone mecha pilot with no social skills Blah blah blah.... Cliche. Every aspect of this story has been done in other anime. Although well done. it is not very original.

Plus in the first episode when he releases the limiter on his mecha, he becomes this god of destruction. If all of those mecha could become that powerful then why didn't they all release limiters when the battle started going badly? That strikes directly at my suspension of disbelief.

Attack on Titan is well written and far more original. The animation is stylized and the characters are very human.

I like both shows, but I would have to say the Attack on Titan edges out Gargantia on originality.

Dear Crunchyroll,

(EXPLETIVE)

Sincerely, all of Australia.

Shouldn't that be addressed to Madman? The rumor is that Madman is negotiating for it, and of course whenever Madman negotiates for something, they block Crunchyroll from getting it in Australia.

Sadly, being a loyal subscriber of CR isn't enough for me to see "THE show to watch" this season. Because I'm in Sweden.

I wonder if my subscription money goes towards this license.. that would suck. Oh well, have fun watching it all you other lucky people!

I watch both shows and like them both the same. Both animes are different and really shouldn't be compared to one another.

For those who cannot watch Titan which does suck, there will be other places you can watch it.

Yeah, one of these days all of the Japanese licensors will have the same aggressive approach to licensing that TV Tokyo takes. Scandinavia is consistently getting over half of the simulcasts, but there are still too many region restrictions all around.

Your views go crediting the royalties of the anime you watch ~ assuming you do watch anime on the site.

That is, the only people who would worry about their subscriptions not paying for the anime they watch are those who subscribe but don't watch very much anime, so don't generate many royalties. As long as you are watching anime, your views are generating royalties that are credits to those shows.

The original post kind of invited the comparisons, by pointing to AoT as "the" show of the season. Its one of my must watch shows of the season, but anytime you say one show is "the show", somebody is going to pipe up who prefers another show.

I will admit, Gargantia is good . Yes I do like the differentiated plot and all; but Attack on Titan has got more of a style than Gargantia does. Honestly, I think that the 3D Gear was absolutely great. With the added effects, it makes scenes look a bit more action worthy. Attack on Titan is for those who like suspense, and a lot of action. Plot is actually the main thing I go for, so Attack on Titan delivers that. In my honest opinion, Attack on Titan has brought it to the table .

Finally somebody who can relate to me and shares the same thoughts.

I thought the same thing, the end of the last episode is promising but not much really delivered yet.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet is the show to watch this season so far

This show has my interest but I'm not thinking OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST EVER, more like its an ok way to pass the time. I am expecting more from it now since they seem to have finally finished setting up the characters, place, and background.

trying really hard not to go read the manga of this so I don't compare them and ruin it.

I really like how the intensity is brought upon the character so quickly. You can almost feel the pain and determination he has. I havent felt that raw emotion in a long time not even in real life. I'm definately hooked on this and hope that it ends well

I've been watching Attack on Titan but I came here just for Andy's review. It's been so long since we've seen one and as always I think he does a great job!
