You can probably put the blame on AoD for Crunchyroll not streaming their entire simulcast line-up in the UK. Either way, you can always watch the couple of shows they got on their website for free.

In regards to the simulcasts, I watch all of those anyway, they don't have to all be on CR for me to see them.

In regards to Blu-Rays/DVDs, my advice would be to get a region free Blu-Ray player and then just import all the new releases that the Americans get.
Problem solved.

I don't even bother with UK releases anymore if the US have it too, because the UK stuff hardly ever gets any special features and they still expect me to pay the same price(or in many cases more.)for it.

You can watch My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU and Photo Kano on www.anime-on-demand.com (although they only have two episodes up of both so far). The only shows on Crunchyroll new to this season we can't see anywhere legally are Arata the Legend, Muromi-san and Samurai Bride, which is pretty good going.

We get Muromi-San in the UK on CR though?

Whoops, so we do (I remember comparing which titles we get here vs. which titles Australia gets, and I must have got Muromi-san mixed up in my head). So really, we're only missing two titles.

Not always. Since we don't have Aniplex over here, Bakemonogatari will be much cheaper in the UK than in the US, for example.

Regional Pricing will say otherwise, that's why DVD's and Technologies and so on are marked up even when they don't have to be.

...That and the struggling UK market for anime, (madoka was a failing release here apparently), not that there's no one interested, MVM and Manga Entertainment UK are just miserable at PR and selling in general, and I can quote long time experianced specialist retailers on that.

...oh and also +20% VAT (making it clearly cheaper to import in bulk from a sales tax free state (and praying desperately that customs doesn't catch it, ripping apart the packaging, charging you the full VAT and a additional service charge for it... yeah been hit by that one before)

You should check what you're paying for before you pay for it.

Either way I doubt it's CR's fault, I'm sure they'd have every anime for everyone everywhere if they could.

Different countries will enforce different rules on sites like this, it can't be helped.

And CR also has to make informed licensing decisions or they'll quickly run themselves out of business.

Problem solved.

I will agree on that one and I cannot wait to get Bake and Nise on Blu-Ray in September for a reasonable price.
A few others I can mention are the Code Geass Blu-Rays which America don't have because of the loss of Bandai Visual, and the upcoming release of a Cowboy Bebop box-set on Blu-Ray along with numerous other things that Anime LTD are bringing back into print and upgrading to Blu-Ray.

I also bought Madoka on Blu-Ray for £24 as opposed to the £100+ that the Aniplex one costs.

I will still say that we get pretty much no special features on our releases though, I cannot remember the last time Manga UK put any special features on a set, but needless to say it was a while ago.

I am not saying that all American stuff has special features, but a lot of Funimation imports have special features whereas their Manga UK sub-licensed sets do not.

We also do not seem to get a lot of Blu-Ray sets, a notable example I can think of is that Clannad and Clannad After story were only just released on DVD in the UK last year, but only on DVD and in 2 parts per series for a total of about £100+.
I looked around and instead got both sets on Blu-Ray from importing for just under £70.

This bothers me because I am much less likely to purchase the local release if they will not offer me HD quality.

Sorry for the double post.

As much as it pains me to admit it, you do have a point.
I will look high and low for legal sources, but if they just aren't there then I will resort to less legit methods if I find myself really wanting to watch a show.

I think what people are saying though is that they should not have to resort to an illegal method when the American members pay the exact same price as the rest of the world and can get it legally on a nice streaming site.

But licencing to other countries costs money, and they might come out in a loss if they start licencing everything worldwide. Plus, the japanese is the one making the calls, CR bids for everything in as much countries as they can. If it makes you feel better, my country got barely nothing decent this season on CR...but I'm still here. Keep supporting CR then maybe one day you will get more stuff.

Btw, this is a bit off-topic but, the people I hate the most in the anime fanbase are the hypocrites that loathe fansubs. There's nothing that I hate more than them. Fansubs are a godsend, period. They are people working for free to give us anime that's not available to us because of copyright restrictions, there's nothing better than that. Anyone NOT living in America knows that.

I am not saying that they don't try to get the licenses, I am merely saying that this is how some people feel about it and the explanation will probably not change that.

I personally could not care less that my premium does not get me everything on site since I will just go elsewhere when it doesn't.
