Will CR show the TV broadcast or DVD version of episode 7 of Gurren Lagaan?

Uh, for those of us who haven't seen it, what's the difference?

It's been a while since I've seen it, but from what I remember it was something about the bad guy kidnap the good guys, mostly girls. In the TV version, those kidnapped fully clothed, in swimsuits, and the good guys want to go rescue them because it's the right thing to do. In the DVD/video version, it's made to look like the girls are naked (pixelated) and the good guys want to rescue them in hopes of seeing the girls naked. (Basically, the guys aren't so noble and have perverted reasons for wanting to rescue the girls).

But, like I said, it's been a while since I've seen it, so I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I definitely remember the DVD version made the guys more into perverts as opposed to being noble. It's done for comedic reasons, but the TV version was definitely toned down.

Makes me wonder why I'm a paying member, seeing the UK getting shafted all the time like this.

Not good, Crunchyroll. Whats the point in giving such a half-assed service?

You still better then me. But to state my reasoning

Since i watch anime licensed or not, and it's quite often that i watch crunchy release either way, where RR simply decide WHERE i watch it and not IF, I consider price fair. What I mea,n i can say that i paid for access to Muromi or other RR anime. Theoretically i can even watch it here since is not locked for my account but for my access point. So if i travel to Sweden, for example, i can watch it without doing anything other then logging in.

So i can consider i should pay for their releases since i can even if i watch it elsewhere. Since pirating and bypassing region restriction are to different things. Fighting RR which is censorship is like fighting slavery or monopole of East India Company in XVIII Century. Mind it it was legal and law was on slave traders side...

There are no borders on Internet, RR is something that actually creates artificial borders on something that is global since born.

GURREN LAGANN!?
I'MSOEXCITED.
I had to stick with the English dubbed one on Netflix. It wasn't that bad, but I tend to dislike English dubs.

JUST WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!

It's been a long long time since I've seen R.O.D so I watched the first episode today ...
was there a prequel to this series?

To have seen R.O.D. the TV, it would had to have been a DVD rental, since AFAIK, it was never streamed by Netflix (and except for a few days late last year, I've had Netflix since before they began streaming). I believe the same is true for Ghost Slayers Ayashi, as I rented it from them on DVD, but was unable to complete the series, which wouldn't have been an issue if they had ever offered it for streaming.

Could you have meant Hulu? As I recall, both series have been available there for some time now.

The OVA is considered the prequel. In the U.S. Cartoon Network aired all 3 parts as a movie, while TechTV's Anime Unleashed aired the series.

While it would be nice to view the OVA, in my opinion it isn't necessary, although to explain my reasoning would be difficult without spoilers. In one way, I think you might enjoy the series more without seeing the OVA, although again explaining why I think that would introduce spoilers.

Yeah this is actually going to be pretty cool because I just realized, I've never actually seen the ROD anime before and just the OVA ... and I think the movie too but not 100% sure.

It was a long long long time ago at the beginning of my delving into different types of anime after my "introduction" to the genre. (Bebop) So this is going to be pretty fun! I had no idea about OVA's back in the day that's for sure so I see now why I got so confused.

"The hell is this? The hell is that?" hahaha.

Thank you for helping me clear it up.

Don't sleep on Ghost Slayers Ayashi, it has an interesting plot and solid characters (no fan service or moe). If you need a break from High School setting animes like me, this is the one (MC is in his late 30s).

I dont mind Gurren Lagann being English Subs, but i woulda prefered it to be English Dubs... But i will still watch it... Its difficult watching an anime youve watched for the first time in english so many times, and then watching it in Japanese... kinda confusing really... Still Excited about this!!!
