Newer ones, I can't stand the art style of the earlier ones. They look bland dull and washed out. No color. Plus, it's all low resolution, I have a hard time sticking to anything unless I can watch it in beautiful eye candy 1080p.

Yep... I cant stand it. The only old ones really are Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion.
Newer ones FTW.
Dont get me wrong though, without the older ones, newer ones would not be as good as they are today

Nails it!

The art work is awesome, the story, and ithe first time you hear Ai Oboete Imasu Ka sung, it is just breathtaking!

But Macross shows how both old and new generation both have good points

All the way from Macross SDF & DYRL to Macross Frontier

that song is fucking awesome!!

Gunbuster (1988) will always be close to my heart. The sequel Diebuster (2004) as well.

It doesn't matter what age the story is, if it's one you enjoy who cares?

there seems to be a very clear difference in terms of the art style for at least three generations of anime. the old stuff that looks very artistic and clearly hand drawn, the new stuff that is gorgeously detailed, and the awkward art style that happened in between haha. Anyways it depends on the show, Wolfs Rain and rurouni kenshin will forever remain classics to me, while a slew of newer anime have also truly impressed me. At the same time though there are still a lot of shows that are just bad from both old and new.

I do have issue with watching the quality of the video of an old anime on a HiDef monitor.

However with the quality ,meaning the script, the storyboarding . directing of the the anime comparing the classic the new ones are not fair at all.

But I can say though that there is a difference in the voice acting style but around the 90's , the acting is better. Its got to be the direction.

So If I were to choose , I would go with newer the generation of quality anime and not just any anime

Well technology has far advanced since 1961. Shows back then were greatly directed and some weren't. Shows now are greatly directed and some aren't. Using Gunbuster (1988) as an example: the acting is top notch, the direction of the story, the script, and the visuals, and remastered in Blu Ray it's even better. Then if you look at the sequel Diebuster (2004) it's the same, made sixteen years later. Diebuster also won't be as touching as it is without the original. Both are great in their own rights, is what I'm trying to say. Age has nothing to do with which one is better, because both are great.

I love 90's anime for mix of nostalgia and that I have absolutely love space westerns like Outlaw Star and Cowboy Bebop. which have fallen out of favor in the last decade. On a side note with the recent influx of space animes I hope they take a chance on making a space western.

Also in my opinion, 90's animes had more original personality and character design. Still haven't found a female character on the awesomeness level of Aisha Clan Clan!

I will give it to you that many of the older ones feel much more original, but then again, they kinda have to be.
