I'm going to go with the didn't pull me in. I like to give a series 4 episodes before I stop watching, and if after that I'm not drawn to watch more I'll stop.

Mostly #1. If I can't get into it I can't watch it.

I voted Multiple because of multiple reasons :)

1. I have no interest in ecchi....just....no. It's a waste of space in my opinion but that's just me.
2. if the characters are too clownish. I need a story I can take seriously.
3. if I'm wondering how someone even came up with this because whatever it is....it's not a plot!
4. really hammy/over acted voice-overs.

Multiple reasons for me which include:

- Weak story that doesn't pull me in, despite how well animated it may be.
- Generic run of the mill character archetypes and annoying voice acting
- Shows that have stupid humor that make me feel my brain cells dying.
- Going off the deep end, as in getting too philosophical or pretentious

But in all honestly not many anime shows turn me off with those or other reasons.

It's usually because it didn't pull me in, but bad art styles can deter me even if the story's amazing...I also don't like too much unnecessary fanservice. I can tolerate it if it's not being shoved into the story every other minute, but sometimes I just...can't. And sometimes, even if it's relatively interesting, I'll just stop watching in the middle of the series because I drifted away from it over time, or I just got distracted by other stuff.

If it doesn't pull me in and/or it's confusing. I do have certain anime styles I like as well so if I can't deal with the style then I stop watching too.

I love watching pilots, and generally just trying new anime. The ones i really like I keep watching, but if I discover another one, then too bad I'm moving on. I actually had to start keeping an excel file just to keep track of where I am in series, so I don't rewatch or reread something. I was a hard habit to get into, but now I log everything after I finish.

Plot, assuming 1 exists, is either too thin or too stupid. Enjoy animation creations that feature redemptive qualities for some or all of its characters.

Does it set up the story/general structure in the first episode? That's alright.
Does it immediately start doing shit that doesn't at all mesh with the first episode? Oh geez get it away from me.

Does it set up several varied and interesting characters the series is going to center around? Most things do that.
Does it just decide "You know what? This one character is way more interesting than anyone else here, so let's focus on and flanderize them?" But what happened to dude from episode 2?

And lastly, but this only happened once, "Is there copious amounts of engrish being spoken by a character who is supposed to speak it natively?"

Props to you if you can guess what single entity the first two come from.

Its when it doesn't pull me in meaning it bored me, but I don't really like to stop watching an anime just cause it makes me feel unsatisfied in a way, though recently I dropped World Trigger after like episode 21 or something.. just could not for the life of me find anything at all I liked in it

-Uber-Excessive Fanservice (some is fine, it's just annoying when they try to cram it down your throat)

Plot Line:
-failed to pull me in
-is horribly predictable/cliche
-Discovery that show is veered towards 8 year olds ('predicable plot line')
-doesn't make sense, jumpy
...
-Inability to connect with characters
-Show introduces new character; kills newbie; then attempts to play it off very sad (flashback scenes during/after is even more annoying)
-Lack of time to connect with new characters
-Characters are forgotten about/left behind
-VIP characters are left out for many, many episodes; reintroduced then killed (lack of time to reconnect with character).
...
-Characters shout out their attacks
-Characters share their plans with the enemy
-Cliche bad guy (no motive, wants everyone dead, abuses everyone [including VIP to his goals])
-Transformation scenes (kinda hypocritical here, since I am watching/enjoying "World Trigger." Although, they still annoy at times)
-Posing (unless it is blatantly obvious that it is a gag character)
...
...
...
Think I got a tad carried away with this list (my bad).

Overall, primary thing that pushes me away from a show is its plot-line.

When the anime studio doesn't do the manga justice or said studio is way too involved in influencing the plot.
