Moderators Picked! (Updated:07-05-07) (CLOSED)
Posted 6/20/07
1) Which position(s) do you want?
Forum Moderator

2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
It might not be much but I feel like I have a fair experience and familiarity with the forums. It’s probably just common sense but I am accustomed to the rules and everyday problems that might appear. I am on the CR forums frequently and having seen the mods in action ^^ I have an understanding of how to approach and deal with certain problems and situations.
Skills – I am unsure how to apply this to the position of a forum mod, but time management and organisational skills comes easily to me. I can allocate my time between different tasks effectively which allows me to focus on different jobs appropriately i.e. distributing my time between forums and answering PMs from people who have questions about CR.
Experiences – Sorry, I don’t have any experience of being a mod. I sometimes help out people who have questions relating to CR in the FAQs thread and if I see someone who might be confused about the use of html and uploading of images, I often PM them to see whether they need any help.

3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
Anime, Drama, MVs, Movies - although I'm probably most familiar with Anime videos.

4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
The system that CR currently uses of 3 warnings and then a ban seems reasonable to me, but, obviously, this can’t apply in every situation, especially when forum rules can be broken in different ways [i.e. sometimes broken more severely in one situation than in others].
I would basically continue with what I am doing now in helping out with the forums. If a duplicate thread is made I would provide a link to the already existing thread and explain that this thread is a duplicate. If the same person is making several duplicate threads it is then necessary [through PMs] to draw their attention to the index threads. Ignorance cannot be made an excuse when the thread indexes are clearly accessible.

With duplicate posts [double/triple posting], it is often just an unintentional mistake and can be overlooked. The posts would be merged or deleted [if it’s two or more of the same post] with a note to show that the post has been edited.

For hostile users, such as those with inappropriate profiles and posts, they should be made aware of what they have done wrong through PMs and warnings. If this is ineffective and they continue to be hostile then it is necessary to issue a short term ban. Continued ignorance and disobedience of the forum rules will result in longer bans. Those who are obviously abusing the forums and cannot be seen to be contributing to CR should have their accounts deleted.

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
I spend a lot of time on CR and I’ll freely admit to that ^^. Even if I’m working on something else there’s a high chance that the internet [and CR] will be running in the background.
Normally I will be on between 9am and 3pm on weekdays (GMT) and during evenings as well.
I realise that this is the summer holidays and it should be known that from 4th July I will be on holiday for just over a month in China. I am aware that this hints that I won’t be on CR very much but to the contrary, I will have constant internet access and the different timezones may benefit CR as not many mods frequent the forums during those times. I will be reverting back into GMT after the holiday.
I will be able to dedicate evenings [and early mornings even ^^] towards CR as this is often when I am most actively online.

6) Do you speak any languages other than English? If so, please indicate which.
Chinese – This might come in useful, maybe, for example in threads such as this http://www.crunchyroll.com/showforumtopic?id=7192 - where some posts are made in Chinese.

7) Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US?
NE Scotland [although this will change after the summer due to moving elsewhere for university] – but will still go by GMT.

Apologies for the long post

Which position(s) do you want? I am applying to be a MediaMod :D

What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any) Well I have been a fan of all types of anime for quite some time and am a crunchyroll supporter (subscription just ended). I was a Mod for my University website for the previous semester. I actually got paid to sit down and be on the Internet…. LOL! But yeah my responsibilities were to upload job, scholarship, and internship offers on the website.

What type of CR videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)? I am most familiar with the anime, games, music video section but I have been trying to find a decent drama to get into. Any suggestions?

How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR? I usually spend 10-12 hours a day on CR now that I am out of school for the summer but during the school year I cut that down to 8 hours daily.

Do you speak any languges other than English? If so, please indicate which. I can only speak English (learning other languages is hard)

Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US? I live in timezone GMT-6:00 central time.

Your buddy
Jae!

I have uploaded lots of videos (mostly music vids) and am always searching and looking for new vids and to show new types of music from different areas that are asian. I won't mind searching about to make sure the vids meet CR requirements. Also, to fill in the many drama and music descriptions. I just want to help out CR since I am here a lot and love the site a lot.

3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?

Music

4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
N/A

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
I spend lots of time on CR. Any free time I have (which is a lot). Sometimes all day. I will be able to dedicate a lot to CR, especially now that I am on vacation. Even when classes start again I will definitely make time for CR. I just love this site a lot! ^^

---Old App Questions:
6) Do you speak any languges other than English? If so, please indicate which.

1) Which position(s) do you want?
Media Moderator

2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
I've have lots of time to spare so I can actually watch the videos (or skim through them) before approving them. I'm not trying to disrespect the current mods but lots of times I've seen videos that had to be taken down because the subs were bad or a joke. I've also always enjoyed gathering correct and sufficient information about an anime series, band, or drama and their tags. I like things to look orderly, neat, and professional, so a video having the correct infomation is a very important aspect to me.

I also have a group on another website in which I gather info for series. So the job of copying, pasting, editing information, and citing sources never gets old for me. Oh, and I am very experienced in HTML, CSS, javascript, and flash.

3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
Music Videos (PVs), Anime, and a some drama. I'm pretty good at identifing game videos as well but since I don't care too much for those I don't spend much time there.

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
If you mean watching videos then it's alot (I don't interact with others on here too much). I use CR to kill time for the most part and because of my living conditions, I have ALOT of time to spare.

6) Do you speak any languges other than English? If so, please indicate which.
Not fluent in japanese but I can get by, I can also translate kanji, hiragana and katakana. I can also speak a language that I was taught at a young age, but it means nothing to anyone else since it's not important and I never use it ^^

7) Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US?

-I know what CR allows and can disapprove or delete unwanted media.
-I'm on CR a lot so I have time to deal with media issues and approving videos.

EDIT: Before this application, I would like to say good luck to everyone else who are applying!

1) Which position(s) do you want?
Media mod and/or Forum mod

2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
I'm updated on the latest anime, dramas, games, music, etc.

I also had previous experience in modding a small forum, which is now dead.

Please don't judge me by my age. Although 13 can be young, I always work hard, and I'm very knowledgeable and patient. I have all the qualties and characteristics in becoming a media mod.

I've joined CR, since about December, and I've taken in experience from the past events. I'm always active on CR, even if I'm away from home. I always try to find a way to stay active and keep in touch with my buddies here on CR.

I help out CR by donating as much as I can. I'm in "The Onigiri" as freelance (drama reviews), (which helps me write summaries for dramas), and I like to send my work in to the magazine as often as I can. I'm also in the CR fansub group to help sub dramas, because I'm fluent in Chinese (Mandarin), which would also help CR with the correction of subs. I also like to try to find any videos that I can upload for CR

I'm very knowledgeable when it comes to videos and sorting their right categories. I love watching dramas, anime, and music videos, and I would love to correct any wrong information.

I'm very dedicated into working at something and I always try my best.

3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
I'm most familiar with anime, drama, music, and member videos here on CR. I'm mostly interested in anime and dramas, but I like looking through the music/music videos and member videos.

4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
Whenever I'm on CR, I like browsing through the forums, to see if there are any spam, or threads that need to be locked. If I was a forum mod, I would love doing my job.

The way I would deal with hostile CR users, is that I will give them warnings, and if they go too far, or if they do something serious, I will ban them. And chain letters, oh chain letters. They are beginning to be really serious here on CR! Any users posting chain letters just might get banned.

I would like to improve the CR forum, by encouraging users to post at least more than two or three words per post. And, I would also encourage to not double-post; use the edit button, and report any spams, or things like that.

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
I spend almost 5 hours on CR everyday. If I'm busy, I try to spend at least an hour. I would be able to dedicate as much time as I need to be on CR and fulfill my work.

Old Questions (If helpful)-
6) Do you speak any languges other than English? If so, please indicate which.
Other than English, I speak Chinese (Mandarin) fluently. I also can understand a bit Japanese.

7) Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US?
I live in the US, Eastern Time (GMT-05:00).

I want the position of Media Moderator.

2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here(if any)
I enjoy organizing things by category, name, genre. I am familiar of most of the anime. Actually, I'm currently watching mostly all the ongoing animes. I am able to recognize anime that has been license recently. I am able to translate the titles of Filipino MV to avoid confusion. I am an easy learner and patient. I also have a multi task ability. I've been on CR since september, i really want to help CR now that it's becoming populated.

3) What type of CR videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
I am most familiar with anime and music video section. Through the influence of my sister on drama, I became interested on drama mostly Korean drama.

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you able to dedicate to CR?
This summer, I'm online 10-13 hours a day. But when the school starts, I'm mostly online for 6 hours. If I become a Media Mod, I would dedicate my 4 hours of my time to CR.

6) Do you speak any languages other than English? If so, please indicate which.
Besides English, I speak Filipino (Tagalog) fluently. I'm also learning Spanish 3. And this school year, I will be learning Japanese 1.

7) Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US?
I live in Hawaii. I think (GMT -10 hours)

1) Which position(s) do you want?
Forum Moderator

2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any).
Religious Forum User
- Familiar with all aspects of the forum (different sections, thread index, help topics, etc.)
- Can navigate throughout the forum with ease

Well-Informed
- Knowledgable in terms of what constitutes as duplicate threads/posts, spamming, trolling, inappropriate topics, etc.
- Aware of all the forum rules in reguards to banning, relocating threads/posts, warnings, etc.

Availability
- Spend most of my time on CR
- Easily accessible (constantly checking private messages, guestbook entries, and email)

Character
- I am very empathetic/considerate of other people's feelings; however, if a person is violating the rules I will definitely be one to regulate.
- Able to act accordingly: Being professional and/or casual when necessary has never been a problem.

Contributions
- I have been a crunchy supporter and have uploaded videos to add onto CR's collection.
- Actively finding ways of helping the current mods by posting existing thread links on duplicate topics. I have also given people friendly reminders on the forum rules, especially 'newbies' (double-posting and duplicate topics are not allowed).

Experiences and Skills
- I do a large amount of customer service and client satisfaction surveys at work so I know how to deal with anger and frustration in a calm fashion.
- Also, heavy computer/desk work is involved for my current job. I am thoroughly prepared to look for new updates, multitasking, and being accurate--which are good skill I can use to bring into the CR forum community.

3) What type of CR videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)?
I am much more familiar with anime than dramas (only Thai and some Korean dramas). I have seen a very wide variety of anime genres: action, horror, comedy, romance, etc. However, I am always open-minded and willing to expand my knowledge.

4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
- Being fair is the most important thing about being a forum moderator.
- As stated in Question #2, I am very much familiar with the organization and rules of the forums. I'm also well aware of the banning procedure after 3 warnings. I think this is a good way to handle majority of situations, and if any other serious incidents occur, it should be dealt with a case-by-case basis (preferably through PMs and decisions shall be made only after thorough analysis).
- Duplicate threads will be redirected to the existing threads, double posting will be merged together, and the user shall be notified of the thread index and basic rules. As common courtesy, members will also be notified of these changes.
- Patience is a key factor when moderating. Perpetual restatement of the forum rules to new users who either happen to not notice the thread index or simply made a few mistakes would not be a problem.
- As a future moderator, I understand that all users should be treated with respect. Therefore, I will never make any hostile remarks or use unnecessary personal attacks while responding or moderating. This is to ensure the peace and safety of the forum community.
- As always, consideration and empathy will be in my rules in moderating; however, reckless behavior will not be tolerated. Banning will be carried out as needed to ensure the safety of other individuals.
- So basically... I can "edit forum topics, posts, etc., ban users, delete users, and keeping the forums sane! Also getting rid of trolls, spams, useless topics, etc." :O)

5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
- I currently spend approximately 10-12 hours a day on CR.
- Weekends: most active 10am-5pm
- Weekdays: 8am-2pm and 9pm-3am/430am (most active during this time). Unfortunately I don't get or need much sleep, however, it would be beneficial because I'm usually the only one awake and actively on CR.
- This fall will be my last semester in college, and I have an easy class line-up. Homework and exams will not interfere much with my schedules. (Note: I usually go on CR from my laptop if bored in class, haha. )

6) Do you speak any languges other than English? If so, please indicate which.
- fluent in Thai (read, write, speak, understand)
- knows a good amount of Spanish

7) Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US?
Central Standard Time - Chicago, IL (USA)

1) Which position(s) do you want? I would like to be a forum moderator!
2) What makes you suitable for this position? Put your experiences and skills here (if any)
I'm obsessed with being on Crunchyroll, on the forums. Refresh, refresh. Oh no Duplicate thread! I redirect them to a similar/duplicate thread, and report to the mods! As a Mod, I can lock in a fast time, and help the Crunchyroll forums be more organized.
I find it quite addicting doing this type of stuff! I enjoy the forum, and of course will be an active member, and I'll be sure to do my duty at the same time.
3) What type of cr videos are you most familiar with (anime, drama, etc)? I'm familiar with dramas, and anime. Although I do not watch them as many people do, I do once in a while. Sometimes I watch a whole drama series in one day, most of the time it's less than a video a week. I guess I watch all my dramas here, and not much anime. I just download those.
4) ForumMod only: what is your moderation style? How will you handle hostile cr users, etc?
If a person makes 3 duplicate threads, after they've been told to use the forum index before they should make one. A second time is a pity, but sometimes people do it. The third time, something has got to be done. I'll gladly do work with inappropriate material in profiles, but I'll probably be more strict depending on how explicit the content is. The first warning if they do not follow it (if it's really explicit), I'm not going to really bother with a second. If it's just not that explicit, but still inappropriate, I'll give warnings to about 3, because sometimes people don't know if something is inappropriate or not, so they upload it anyways. And that I can truly understand, not all can comprehend what is inappropriate or not. Because it can be simple things they haven't noticed, but other can.

Hostility isn't much of a problem for me, if they keep acting up. Ban. (Of course I'd have warned them before!)
5) How much time do you spend on CR? How much time will you be able to dedicate to CR?
I spend most of my day on Crunchyroll, I barely play WoW anymore because of it. I'll spend most of the time I'm on Crunchyroll moderating the forums, which I'm mostly always on. It's not like I want to post in every single thread, all the time. So I guess I'll spend most of the downtime doing hard work, and the other normal work? Even if there are interesting threads up, I'll gladly take my time to work!
6) Do you speak any languges other than English? If so, please indicate which.
I sadly am not very Bi-lingual.. I just know pretty much basic stuff. I can speak a little Vietnamese, I really really can't type anything... I can speak a wee bit of French (I know more than just Bonjour!) and that's pretty much it for me. Maybe I'll just use Babelfish if I have to... or if I find any other translator thing that's actually better.
7) Where do you live (timezone-wise)? Do you live outside the US?
I live in the US, Eastern Standard Time (-5).
