Just like the Title. Is AOT sucking up all the fame this anime Season like, Sword art did when it first came out. (BTW I love AOT)

I was just thinking some people feel AOT is over hyped, just like SAO was and now no one is even recognizing the other good titles this season that came out like Gargantia and other really good starting Animes. For one I feel Like AOT deserves its hype Just my opinion. What I dont want is people to hate a anime just because its doing so good and everyone is talking about it and not their fav. (I understand you might be a fan of those unknown titles)

Maybe its just now the SOA Effect.

Where if there is a really captivating Anime that comes out it SUCKS ALL LIFE from the others so they cant grow just as big as fan base. Crunchy rollers I understand you guys watch like almost as much as possible but Im not just talking about Crunchy. All you hear about is AOT, and I just feel a little bad about the other good Titles.

You do realize the mods moved the same exact thread to the Attack on Titan forum?

For the record since I forgot to say it in the other thread, I am not watching Attack on Titan. And I am enjoying Gargantia, HenNeko and Nyarko-san a lot this season so for me, AoT barely registers.

AoT is not sucking up all the fame at all. If anything, I would think Gargantia is sucking up more fame than AoT (I enjoy watching both)

I think you're just crazy.

deja vu: i feel like i've posted on this thread before

my tastes are pretty broad when it comes to anime and i'm not subjected to other's opinions when watching anime

but i'm pretty sure it may cause some other-wise 'good' animes to go unnoticed for those who don't watch anime often

It's not sucking all the fame but it is getting some well deserved hype.

I'll preface by saying that, honestly, I'm not much a fan of Attack on Titan. I loved Sword Art Online, and I definitely think that as far as the shows are concerned there are some definite parallels one could draw between the two. With that said, both of them were/are extensively hyped (I'm not saying whether or not it was/is deserved, merely that it is a fact: they were/are hyped a hell of a lot). Just as Sword Art Online definitely did dwarf a lot of other shows from acknowledgment a couple seasons ago, I feel that Attack on Titan definitely may be doing the same. But, I have heard others talk about how certain series (Gargantia in particular) are being overlooked because of AoT, and I feel like while there may be some truth to that statement, it is also true that people still are acknowledging the other shows...just maybe as not much. The fact that the original post even mentioned Gargantia is proof of that fact. So ultimately, just as with Sword Art Online, I think the hype is mostly initial with AoT, and eventually the majority of non-"die hard" AoT fans will stop talking about it as much, and the other shows will come into greater prominence. In fact, I've already noticed the sheer gravity of AoT hype and support quieting out, so I think the whole point is sort of moot now.

Well AOT is, quite frankly is a mainstream anime right now. I like it due to the high level of animation it has, but also the story. It has great potential to erupt into something amazing. With SAO, I just felt connected to it because of my love for MMO's.
So to answer your question.... It isnt "sucking in the recognition" but it is being highlighted more then others.

Meh, i can see why AOT is getting all the hype its betting because.. well, when was the last time we even SAW an anime like this? a very serious anime with dark tones, a very unique art style, an intriguing, and standout premise, is not afraid to pull punches or limit what we may see on screen, and no fan service. been quite a while. has a very pre-2007 moe boom feel to it.

While i think the hype spiraled just a wee bit of of control, i can definitely say there is a VAST difference between SOA and AOT right now: SAO seemed to have no idea what to do with itself, while like AOT, SOA had a strong early opening , however after just a few episodes, the show went from exploring the state of the players being trapped in a virtual world to, basicly Kirito starting his own Harem -_-.

AOT feels more focused in that regard so far, Well that and the show got handed to some VERY talented people. (i swear i take one look at SOA's development staff, and my brain starts to hurt, especially some... interesting, and questionable brief additions to the storyboard staff given the ..'experience' of SOA's writing staff.)

Its got a lot of hype, but i think the excitement is well placed, but i don't think it's taking up too much attention, i'm watching a lot this season, and i can say i'm really enjoying a lot the of the spring titles.

I agree with this 100%. it's a very dark and bleak feeling anime. You want to root for the main characters, but the Titans are just so over powered you can't help but feel their efforts are in vain.

You know why there's more AoT discussions than Gargantia?

Because Gargantia is an original work
and AoT is a manga adaptation.

So naturally there is going to be a lot more talk about AoT simply because a lot of people have already read the manga.

No, I don't think it is. They are two different shows after all.

I actually don't like that many "mainstream" shows to be honest. I don't like horror and I watched Another because A.) Noizi Itou designs B.) It was animated by PA Works. Attack on Titan has nothing that I like so I don't watch it.

Gargantia is written by one of the top writers in Japan(Gen Urobuchi) and basically the same studio as AoT(Wit is a subsidary of Production IG) and I like how the darkness in it is all too human rather than some supernatural force. I also prefer hopeful works to "hopeless struggle" works.

HenNeko and Nyarko-san are also very funny comedies and I love Japanese comedies.

What does Gargantia being written by Gen Urobuchi have anything to do with it? No offense or anything, just curious.

Also, judging by your preference I'm guessing shows like Texhnolyze and Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom aren't you cup of tea?
