What drew you in initially? Such as the shoujo demographic, magical girl elements, the art, the characters? Other things?

One thing that I can tell you is that I love this series. Sure it is cliche and childish at times, but there is something undeniably appealing about it.

What do you think?

The story is what really drew me into the fandom.

When I started watching Shugo Chara! I was a fifth grade student. I had no friends, no real talents [or so I had thought] and my only joy in life was watching anime. I really didn't have anything to live for except for cartoons. When I started watching Shugo Chara! I immediately clicked with Amu. Everyone noticed me [though I was noticed for my academics, not my attitude] but never talked to me or really cared. I hid behind a mask, pretending that that was how I wanted things to be, just like Amu. As I watched the series, I began to empathize with Amu more and more, and as she grew up and became a better, less bashful and stubborn person, I did too. I kept watching when I got into the sixth grade, and I made my first friends. Shugo Chara! made me who I am, which is truly who I want to be.

The art is beautiful as well. The scenery is drawn wonderfully, the character designs are gorgeous and all the alternate outfits are amazing. PEACH-PIT has a very distinctive style, which sets them apart from other mangakas in their genre.

The show's musical scores are touching, and really make you feel the tension or sadness or joy in a character's heart. Ikuto's backstory and how it connects with music adds a whole new level of depth to the musical scores as well.

I could go on for another five paragraphs, so I'm stopping now. Shugo Chara! has shaped my life and I am immensely grateful for that.
