Possibly wanting to come perform in Japan.

Anyone got any tips for someone wanting to travel and perform in Japan?
Where I should look into for bookings or the like?

Thanks!

Could try bars and stuff. Send e-mails and hope you hit a bar/club that has a manager/owner that is interested.

That's what I am thinking, I really want to take my fiance to Japan for our honeymoon. Hopefully get a gig or two to earn some yen when I am over there to keep costs down (Step 1. Hit Akihabara, step 2. Buy everything not nailed down, step 3. Ship it all home) I guess that works. I need to restudy my Japanese though and make sure my Kanji is up to par for correspondence.

Akihabara is very expensive, probably not as bad as when I was there last year and they exchange rate was about 76 yen to $1. Now it is about 98 yen to $1. Still, expect to pay about 5400-8000 yen for 2-3 episodes of any anime.

I do regret not buying a PSP or Wii while I was there, along with the Taiko no Tatsujin series.

I'm a figure/Doujinshi nut, Mandarake's store will be hit hard by me (My usual order is about $350.00 per month of everything from figures, to doujinshi, to dvds, to etc.) I'm really hoping to explore as much as have a blast DJing. I just need to actually find a venue/get attached with a group that is going to tour there. Pretty much just going to head out with about 200,000 Yen and come home to boxes and boxes of DHL'd goodies. Especially Doujinshi.

I am looking at going in August, and as of now, the airfare looks like it will be about $1480+.

The fiance might be bored if you spend all your time in Akihabara.

That's an expensive trip regardless of what you do. Make sure to see other things and take the finance to places she'd like, such as Shibuya and especially Takeshita Street in Harajuku.

The affordable hotels (cheapest) have beds that are equivalent to cots, and the rooms are so small you literally trip over each other. .

Yeah, I really want to go visit some shrines as well as the countryside for a day or so. I don't mind the confined spaces, the fiance and I tend to sleep in the very corner of our largish bed. Chances are the entire trip would cost a buttload and I would only probably make about 300-500USD from spinning there. Haha.

The JR Railpass is definitely a worthwhile purchase if you plan on traveling outside of Tokyo. I got the 7 day rail pass last year, and used it to go from Tokyo to Hakone to Kyoto to Hiroshima to Miyajima and back to Tokyo.
