I'm sure there is a psychology term when you see the big red button (in this case the spoiler tag) you are more enticed to click on it.

This is one of those moments.

The dark side of the force is like crispy bacon while the light is soft. btw i like soft bacon not the crispy crap >.>

anyways back to the thread...

spoiler alert, couldn't people use double spoilers to really hinder the post?

also whoever reports this is clearly a vegetarian and works for peta. btw did you know peta kills 90% of their "adopted" animals >.>

Generally I find that manga readers and anime fans will almost always add spoiler tags whenever they talk about future series happenings. This interest we all have has a great community of people following it.

If someone does spoil something for me, I'm not impressed... I dislike knowing what is to come.

You know guys you can just create a forum discussion thread and put "(no spoilers)" in the title right? Then it would be a thread that is not supposed to contain spoilers and we could theoretically remove the spoilers from it since it breaks the thread rule set by the OP.

Just saying.

That is a great idea. However, it's a bit subjective right now as to what even constitutes a spoiler and when to and when not to use it.
I've said it before, but I think it would be great if the site could come up with maybe at least some guidelines (helpful hints) about this when posting potential spoilers.
I mean, some people (including myself) think it is ok to post your thoughts about episodes without spoilers as long as its info gathered only from the anime series itself - and not from any other medium. Some people think u should use spoilers when talking about important events that happen in any episode (as a courtesy for others), especially if that ep has not aired yet on CR, but has on other legal or non-legal sites. I also agree with this mentality, lol.

Some people think a spoiler is only things pertaining to the manga. Some people, like myself, would consider any info not just from the manga, but from videogames, visual novels, live-action dramas, etc. to be spoilers and things we would rather not read.

If there's one thing that I noticed, it's that whenever a post is made about something along the lines of "I don't understand this thing or that thing" or "I hope things don't turn out like such and such", there's a good chance a manga reader will see that post and will end up making a post trying to "help out" by answering that person's question using knowledge from the manga. I know it happened to me in an anime thread here recently where I expressed my discontent about something in the plot, and someone answered it in such a way that I knew he's using knowledge from the manga, and thus, it had me shaking my head especially since it wasn't even in a spoiler tag.
I really wish he would have placed it in a spoiler tag, and put a pretext above it saying something like: "Manga Spoiler to help elaborate on things" or "Visual Novel Spoiler to help elaborate on things" or wherever he got his info from.

Basically, there are 2 subjective issues here:

1) What constitutes a "spoiler?"
2) When would be an appropriate time to use it?

A CR FAQS guideline (helpful hints) on this would be great, Kark! And even a link somewhere close to, or within the vicinity of the "Post Reply" button that said something like, "What is a spoiler, and when to use it" would be beneficial for certain. I'm sure if people saw a link like that close to the "Post Reply" button, many would check it out. I know it would be difficult for all users to abide by a guideline, but at least we would have something to fall back on now, so if there are disagreements (which there has been, and will more than likely always be) as to why a poster did or didn't spoiler something, we have at least something to point to now, and within time, I think it is possible to have at least the majority or the "usual" posters here to abide by them. And we have a lot of the "usual" posters here in the anime forum. I could prolly name a few dozen or so of them from the top of my head, lol.

We have been over this. You shouldn't need me to tell you what constitutes a spoiler anyway. Just to keep it simple how about "any information from an episode that hasn't aired on CR yet". That seems fairly common sense based.

Yep, I'm fine with that , but I would assume (or at least I hope) that would also entail info from mangas and perhaps other mediums? I mean, this is the anime forum, so the way I see it is any info used to "explain things" that came from another non-anime medium needs to be spoiler tagged with a pretext describing what kind of spoiler (some people do this, some people don't). And yes, while most everything seems common sense (at least to us), it's just too subjective since we all have our own ideas about this, and hence, the arguments that ensue every once in a while about this topic. I've really only started checking out these forums daily for about half a year or so, but in that time, I've noticed topics like this keep coming up every so often with disgruntled people. I know we can't eliminate all these "spoiler" problems entirely, that's a given, but I'm sure most people here would agree that some kind of specified format/guideline would be helpful to have. In the long run, I'm sure it would proof itself better to have than to not have.

Again... if it is info that wasn't shown in an episode that has already aired on CR then that would obviously make it a spoiler. The source of the info is a non issue.

Ok, I see what you're trying to say now & I'm cool with that. ^__^ The only problem now is getting other people to understand that.
