It's kinda desperate when you see this woman holding on to her earpiece indicating the signal is bad

Or indicating that traffic is loud. Seriously, I know I cover my other ear when I'm on my cell near traffic. It seems natural to me.

It could be a lot of reasons.

But normally I wuld would think of it as her
struggling to understand what she's hearing, aka bad reception.

I didn't think satellite coverage had bad reception anymore. I always just assumed they were always in places where loud things were going on: Busy cities, war zones, etc. I thought they chose satellites for these remote places because they got good reception. I mean, the video is usually pretty smooth, it'd be weird if it were hard to hear in war zones because of reception, and then video reception is perfect. I feel like I only see them holding the earpiece in loud areas, because satellite reception is more or less reliable wherever you are. Anyway, I said earlier that I'd drop it, so I will.

I love the Daily Show and just about every week Jon rips CNN for being the most pathetic attempt at a news organization. Even this week when he was interviewing a woman who works at CNN he was still blasting it. That is why I'm not really surprised by this, more just disappointed. But its funny as hell though, especially when the car drives by in the background.

The fact that some of you are JUST NOW finding this out about CNN shows how blind you are to the world around you. CNN, Fox News, they're no different than the rest of the mainstream media, only Fox News is a bunch of neo con boot lickers. Where the others are kissing the bottom of the ultra left neo libs.

I also don't see the big deal. Like theYchromosome said, this just doesn't seem to matter. It seems highly unlikely that CNN was trying to "dupe" anyone. There just isn't anything to gain (so you're talk of motivation seems odd). Most people won't notice the background traffic, and we routinely see people from all over the world talking via satellite. It's not a new and exciting technology that CNN needs to flaunt.

Is it slightly amusing? Sure. Does it say anything about CNNs integrity or level of "desperation" as you put it? Not at all.

Exactly. I don't see where this comes anywhere near Fox's habit of making stuff up just to promote their right wing agenda. Not that I have much use for CNN .. haven't since Gulf War 2..

When the best they could come up with for a headline at the start of the war was "Explosions in Iraq!" .. well .. No shit.

And we won't even go into the rant one of their talking heads put out about those who didn't join the 'coalition of the willing'

But Fox is a whole other animal.

From the comments section at the atlantic wire:

Bill The Audio Guy Alan Sells • 11 hours ago
No that's wrong Alan. They dialed and broadcasted into studio control rooms, so the Producers could have the last interrupt into their IFB earpieces. The two separate Sat feeds arrive at the destination at different times, out of sync with each other. If the anchors approach each other this is noticeable. The trucks do not dial into each other for IFB's, that's not the right way to do this kind of thing. It would have been overly complicated to dial truck to truck when both feeding a Control room in Altlanta, and receiving back audio with tapes and producer interrupts into their ears from Atlanta, especially considering the other hits and maybe pretapes the reporter needed to do before and after the show with Grace.

So it looks like the split screen interview was conducted in that manner out of convenience for the two reporters and for production/technical reasons.

I gave up calling them "news" services years ago, it is more of a gossip service now. It better describes what they do now. Watch foreign news services for better news.

Forget about inefficient production methods.....the real scandal here is that Nancy Grace is still allowed on TV and not somewhere lording over the other bitter gossip queens at the local hair salon.
