It isn't often that people on the Internet apologize for improper vocabulary, but I've noticed that a relatively high percentage of those who do tend to say that it is due to them being French. I don't mean to be impolite and/or offensive, but this is a phenomenon that I have been curious about for several years. Is that mostly the result of people making false claims of nationality, or are many Frenchmen unusually concerned with proper grammar and are merely being courteous?

French people are typically sticklers on proper grammar and pronunciation in their own language. Some WILL correct you in real time conversations if you said something wrong. Naturally, I wouldn't be surprised that of those learning English, many apologize for not saying/writing it correctly.

Of course no French is fake french. If it was fake french it would be Québécois.

What french are we talking about? European french? or just french in general? 'cause I mean, there's a huge difference, I'd imagine European frenchies are crazy about being grammatically correct. Especially if they ever heard myself speaking french.

I don't know... They never specify.
