I have my left ear pierced twice, both 4 gauge. I wear hoops, plugs and tubes. Planning on doing the right ear 2 gauge and upping the left side to match. Why? Because I like it. Those that don't I really don't care, it's my body not theirs. The piercing of the body falls right in line with tattoos. To Each Their Own! IMHO kids should wait until at least 16 years old and let them decide.

Some parents here in north america do still have their kids pierced. My dad considered it for both of us but chose not to do it. I have piercings, three holes in each earlobe, one industrial, and one helix, but I took them all out because I decided I was sick of taking care of them and letting them close was wiser than letting them get infected. I can just get them repierced. Gonna start getting tattoos soon, just can't make up my mind since a tattoo is more permanent than a piercing.

Seriously though it's a low-risk thing to do. It's vain, sure, but so is putting make up on in the morning or ironing your clothes. These things do not add functionality nor are they beneficial for your health. In the end, it's your body, and you have every right to feel comfortable and beautiful in your skin. If you decide that your idea of beauty means adorning yourself in metal or pushing ink between the layers of your skin or cutting/searing/marking your flesh, and it doesn't inhibit your basic bodily functions, it really isn't anyone's say and there isn't anything crazy about it.

This also touches on the fact that what we define as beautiful is a personal thing, and we're all allowed to disagree with someone's definition of beauty, but in the end, we don't have to comply to another person's beauty standards.

Don't like piercings? Don't get them. Think they're ugly? Don't date people with piercings. That simple, really. Otherwise, no one owes you beauty, and your beauty isn't universal. Claiming the moral high ground doesn't work on this one. It's not a moral issue. If anything, some would argue morality is against you if you try and pressure others to fit your values.

I have my left ear pierced, but that's it. Gauges are the piercings that disgust me, but that's solely my opinion obviously.

I don't care. My mom wanted me to get my ears pierced when I was younger (maybe 12-ish), but I refused because I was afraid of the pain. Now I just don't care enough to get any piercings. I rarely wear a bracelet, don't think I'd ever actually wear earrings.

A lot of dudes look cool with piercings. More power to 'em.

I got my ears pierced when I was an infant, but im a girl. Personally, I only think guys look nice when they have stud earrings, not hoop earrings, but its just my opinion. But a lot of guys don't look good in earrings, so I guess it depends on what you look like if you're doing it for looks. But as just cosmetics, anyone can get it. I always thought that gauges were just weird...

I would not do it mostly for the fact I dislike pain and holes in my head.

As for others, each to their own. Except Gauges, those creep me out

I can't have pierced ears anymore due to my job but when I was in high school I had lobes, cartilage, and an industrial. I miss them.

I've had both my ears pierced, about to get my tongue and lip pierced next week. I dont see a problem with it. My mom thinks I'm a satanist and thinks I'm crazy cause of this (and my black fingernails lol) but really it's just part of my own style and it makes me feel great. I believe you should do whatever it takes to be you no matter what others say but dont do it just to be "different" or else you're bound to have some regrets.

Well thats just my take on things

I had my eyebrow and lip pierced, but turned out I have nickel allergy and both got terribly infected and I had to remove them, so I never dared try my ears in case it would turn out the same, that's why I use clip-on earrings, they serve the same purpose so I think they're fine

did you skip sizes or some shit?
downsize to the next smallest size jewelry you have, but do NOT just take them out. you can cause issues with letting a wound get infected yet close up so it just festers in your ear.

example, if you stretched your ear up to 2g, go back down to 4g or something smaller, and do NOT just take your jewelry out.
hot water mixed with some seasalt, not iodized table salt but actual seasalt will help as well. Try to avoid using neosporin/bactaid/that kind of shit, if you do, make sure you use lotion once the greasiness of the stuff you put on goes away, you need to keep your ears hydrated.

Experience : I have my ears stretched to 2 3/8ths/ 60mm lol.

If a nickel allergy was a concern to your piercings, you were wearing cheap chinese knock off jewelry. Don't ever fuck with that kind of crappy quality jewelry, especially for long term wear.
