What do you think is the best media player? What do you use? (To watch anime for example)

VLC Media Player or Media Player Classic (HC).

/Edit: I should have mentioned that I'm running Windows 7 and 8.

I use TotalMedia Theatre 6. It plays pretty much everything I want. The reason I got it was because I purchased a blu ray drive and wanted to watch them. Sadly, just buying a blu ray drive doesn't get you the software needed to play them unless you buy a computer with a BR drive already installed. Since I built my own computer, I had to get the software separate. As far as watching just Anime, I have GOM and it works just fine, but most of the anime I watch is either on DVD, Blu Ray, or can be played within a browser.

Windows Media Player, a lot of people say it's bad because it can't play some files.

Well, duh.

You don't have to codecs installed.

Windows Media Player + K-Lite codec pack = the best.

Media Player Classic with CCCP was the only way I could get proper NTSC playback without juddering so it wins by default.

PotPlayer. It's made by the same person who made KMPlayer, except it's regularly updated. Plays everything, has a slick interface with some nice default skins, is extremely stable and just works well. I really like the ability to take any section of a video and output it as a separate clip for when I want to gif something.

I used to use Windows Media Player for everything, but I switched to VLC because it seems to run smoother, and I like the instant-on compatibility. Plus I can use it on Windows as well as Linux.

VLC, both for Windows and Mac (though I think it works better on Windows). I use my iPads as backups if needed, but I have a laptop if I need to use something that is considered bad for iOS or Android.
