i saw FLCL, death note, and cowboy bebop in another persons post<-- and man... more eps of these would have been fantastic. SAO could have slowed way down and still had a amazing show. attack on titan is becoming my new fav ATM. but i still watch naruto and ive been watching it since i was in school.

I can't stand One Piece because of Luffy. Tried a few times to get into the series and I just can't. I hate his character. I like some of the other characters better but him as the main character i really hate. Especially his abilities.

I can't stand Love Hina. I thought I would like it but hated it. The guy gets beaten up for the most stupid reasons and for no reasons at all. And It's lame to me.

There's probably a few more but i can't think of them now lol.

Not that I can't stand them but NONE of the long running series hold my interest, at all. That includes:

Naruto
Naruto Shippuden
Bleach
One Piece
Fairy Tail
Hunter x Hunter
Gintama
Space Brothers
Detective Conan

They happen to be some of the most popular and I watched most of them for a while at least but I just get bored when there is no obvious progression toward anything.

I don't know quite what it is... I think I like the sense of purpose you get out of a 11-26 episode series. It has a beginning, a middle and an end (hopefully). Long running series just go on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on... and on... and on... and I think you get the idea. And then if they're Fairy Tail or Gintama they don't even end properly, they just go away for a while and you hope they come back.

Strangely, long running manga I don't mind. I have been reading Gun Dream/Battle Angel Alita for almost 20 years. Blade of the Immortal just ended this year after over 200 chapters that were done monthly. I still read Jojo's Bizarre Adventure...

One piece
Evangelion
Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet - Still watching it but i'm not a fan of all the needless fan service thats in it lately and its getting a bit boring. It is funny reading the comments from older males trying to defend enjoying underage girls in skimpy outfits

Okay, I've seen a lot of replies like this...

*ahem* You have no right to say you can't stand an anime if you've never even tried to stand it in the first place.

I'm confused as to how people say stuff like that too. I mean don't get me wrong I am not a fan of the long runners, but I gave each of the ones I listed a pretty nice shot. I got about 150 eps into naruto, nearly finished bleach, one piece was a struggle and I caved after episode 50ish. It bugs me for the same reasons though, some of my favorite anime take heat and when i ask what they didn't like they say its because it looked weird or their friend said so or something. If you don't like it then its all good, but give it a shot first.

One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Gintama-essentially any Shonen Jump anime, because they simply won't end their cash cows, and will flog them to death with repeated series and OVAs.

Hetalia: Axis Powers. Just doesn't do anything for me, and it seems it's more about the fans shipping couples together than anything to like.

Fairy Tail has long story arcs (mostly drawn out to minimize filler I think), but there's definitely progression going on. It might be easier to see from the perspective of having read the manga, though.

I like it a lot since it's one of the only long-running stories that invests time in actual character arcs for a good portion of its extended cast. Hell, the "main character" is supposed to be Lucy from that series.

To each their own though.

I really enjoyed some of the arcs and some of my favorite episodes of Fairy Tail are actually some of the one-off filler episodes but overall I found it hard to keep my interest up in the long run, especially since the episodes disappeared off Crunchyroll in a month so you couldn't go back and remind yourself what happened before. Funimation only has the first 50 or so up, getting more soon but that leaves a huge chunk of the middle missing unless you import the discs or read the looooong running manga as well.

I like a series where I can watch the whole thing over again in a day or a weekend which I can do with 11-26 episodes.

I'm kind of getting the feeling that you were waiting for some mecha action series....
