Has anyone tried to somehow get access to some of these apps on a normal computer? If they work that might be a cool thing. Hmm. Only 360P would be pretty bad though for the android app and I doubt I can get any other app to work on a desktop system :/

One might be able to run the Android app on a PC or Mac using Bluestacks, but unless you could convince the app you had an OUYA and not a generic Android app, you would indeed be stuck with only 360p.

There is at least one OUYA emulator, but the CPU requirement (3 GHz quad core) and GPU requirements limit which systems it can run on.

Hmm actually I do not need an ouya emulator. I own a ouya. So the ouya is allowed to access hd stuff?
I am looking at the windows phone thing right now because that looked like it would be easiest to setup on a windows driven system. But that ouya might be finally be good for something. Need to test it.

EDIT:
Hmm the ouya does not actually tell me what video quality it uses or I am too stupid with consoles to find the setting. Maybe it uses the setting from my crunchyroll account. On my 27" 1080p screen it looks decent from a few quick checks though. Controlling the ouya is a pain though, but the player seems to work from a quick test at least. I even can skip rather fast.
Will test this in the next days. If it works out it might be a really cool solution to this problem.

The OUYA app was announced in late October of last year, and supported 1080p from the outset:

I believe that as with many of CR's recent apps, it uses adaptive streaming, which means it tries for the best resolution for your available bandwidth (similar to how Netflix works).

Personally, I would prefer some control over the resolution. At the least, I would want some feedback on the current resolution, so I could abort viewing and try again later if it dropped too low (which I've been known to do with Netflix).

Yeah I agree on the need for control about resolution. The app is nice and the tests I did on it first all worked flawless (todays episode of no game no life) at other times it did show some lags (kill la kill)
Most of them were not horribly bad and, quite unlike the flash browser, the app was always able to continue streaming. It never just stopped.
Handling the ouya is a pain though, the app has less features than my browser and is controlled by a controller and not my wireless mouse obviously. So I guess the ouya is a nice backup plan for days were the desktop cdn plays bad jokes on me.
Then again right now the browser streaming works again anyway.

I am sick of the lag so I cancelled my premium membership today. Funny CR never asked me why or said, “Sorry we are losing you”…
I know I didn’t have blazing fast speed (5mbs) so I only watched SD but recently, even watching during the day was unbearable. I stopped watching at night a month ago.
I tried all of their “fixes” and nothing worked; the open DNS “solution” for me actually was worse.
I wanted to support you CR but I am going back to Hulu so I can watch from my PC.

hmm, so i logged in to see if people were still having issues, and it seems they are and they are still pretending there are no issues. Kind of glad i cancelled my subscription when i did. Still have Funimation and with Google fiber, other alternatives take just as long as streaming anything anyway.

So close to cancelling membership tonight, can't even get some anime to start playing and when it does it pauses and skips to the next episode.

CR is a joke, so many promises yet nothing has been fixed, CR needs new management as whoever is in charge needs to be fired.

I've had problems consistently on the browser side of things. Stuttering, skipping, freezing, etc.

Though, I guess part of the reason I pay is because I don't want to watch from my PC, so I don't deal with that sort of stuff often anyway. The PlayStation and Xbox apps I use crash (and require resets) more than I'd like them to, but they are otherwise pretty solid. That support is specifically why I'm still subscribed.

The skipping to the next episode can be avoided by turning off autoplay. I mention this, as some people aren't aware that is an option.

What occurs when this happens is that the stream is being aborted (the connection is being broken somewhere along the path between you and the CDN server). With autoplay off, the video will simply appear to have ended prematurely, and you can refresh the page.

Well, I can tell you this right now. If they don't start upgrading soon and fix this ridiculous service of theirs, I'm not renewing my subscription. it's funny how we're already in June and updates were supposedly getting released at the end of Q1. News flash, we're almost at the end of Q2 now....*facepalm*

Well, that depends on whether your talking calender year or fiscal year, which can be arbitrary. I don't know what CR's fiscal year is, though.
