I'm not a super emotional person, I do tear up sometimes if things happen to characters I've grown to like in anime basically I empathize with their sadness I guess you could say.

However when I watched After Story I actually couldn't control it... I think it was episode 18 I was full blown tears streaming down my face, throat choked up crying. I've never had a reaction like that to any form of media ever. That didn't even happen when I lost 2 friends in high school. I don't know specifically what it is about watching Clannad > Clannad After Story that has such a protracted result on my emotions, I was actually depressed for a week or two after as well. Many people have this same type of reaction to it and I think it's amazing that an anime can effect so many people in the same way.

Clannad After Story tore me to pieces. In fact, one day I was working out at the gym and the Clannad After Story opening credits song came up randomly on my iPod. I was so choked up that I had to step off the treadmill and get a drink before I could continue my work out.

After
every time that opening credit song came on, I got so worked up emotionally. There were times when I had to skip it because I just couldn't handle it.

This scene

I had to pause because I could not read the subs. While thinking to myself "What am I doing?"
My sleeve has never been so soaked with tears as it was that day.

I have not dared to rewatch any of Keys works yet, too much feels.

I have "Snowfield" in one of my YouTube playlists and every time it plays I get chills and goosebumps. Very emotional song. I actually bought the Original Soundtrack a few weeks ago and it finally arrived. There is a lot or good music in the anime.

I think I probably shed a tear in episode 21 - The End of the World..when

Looking back now, I might of shed more tears but that was one of the most memorable scenes I've remembered from After Story.

If I were to place clannad and kanon on a scale for emotional appeal, I believe clannad would outweigh the latter.

although I do find makoto's arc in kanon to be better at inducing sympathy than most of clannad.

Yep, I think the incredibly vast majority of people who watched Clannad After Story have cried at it.

Most of the Key VNs are very emotionally draining, but Clannad is still the best drama show I have ever seen anime or otherwise.

I think that everybody, whether they like the slice of life genre or not should watch both seasons of Clannad.

Also although episode 18 was not as sad as some of the other episodes, it sent me into a full blown sobbing fit during that scene in the field.

I've seen all the episodes of Clannad and if you didn't shed at least one tear through the entire thing, you either have no tear ducts or are on Lithium, Invega, or Latuda.

Let's just say that I can't take one my watch of this one again.
3 times was enough.
I've tried to rewatch it, but no luck.

I've said this before, but I watched After Story during the actual season it ran. The weeks between each episode were rough. I was a walking depressed zombie. I can't listen to the music today without getting choked up. This and Kanon are in my top ten for sure. I take this stuff way too seriously.

Clannad After Story shot me in the feels with an emotional sniper and left me lying on the ground in a pool of my own tears wishing that the pain would never end. Because of this, it holds the number 1 spot on my Favorite Anime of All time List.

I didn't really think that the first season was all that good, but after watching all those episodes, After Story really got me, it was my first and worst time crying over anime, after that I've shed some tears on other shows, and I thought I wouldn't feel the same again... Then I played Little Busters VN and Key got me again
