I know sounds silly but that happened to me last week when i saw Attack on Titan, the episode was really strong and i was just like "...........da fuck!!!" and after the episode i put straight away Gargantia where they were happy and having barbqueue and all that Fan Service, and in my head was like " .... yeah they are having such a good time and with so much food... while people are being eaten in living through hell in the other series..." HAHA i had to leave it to another time really... :/

Have that ever happened to you? If so which show caused the shock and which show you watched afterwards but you just couldnt get into it?

I don't think I've ever put a series on hold over this, but there are a couple anime that I'd set time aside for and not watch anything for awhile immediately afterward. TTGL, Puella Magi Madoka Magica, and Psycho-Pass were three.

... and then there was that one, definitely.

I have no idea where that episode came from but it knocked me on my ass for about a day.

I'm more likely to do this with books though. Especially anything by Steven Erikson (The Crippled God took me months; sometimes I'd just read a couple sentences and then put it down again for a couple days to process everything).

Edit: And Shin Sekai Yori. And Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade.

It happened to me when I watched One Piece of Heaven a few years ago.
When I caught up to One Piece of Heaven's latest episode at that time (it was before the 500th episode),

a part of me died as well. I had to watch my 2nd fave anime,
Gintama, just to make myself feel better again. But didn't work.
I had to read the OP manga instead.

But Attack on Titan, its impact on people.
When will Sword Fart Offline?

I finished the movie listened all the song during the credits and just couldnt watch all the loud anime i was following at the time i believe it was "School Rumble" its also a great anime however i wanted my brain to sink in all the awesomeness from that movie... mainly the last fight of course...

your first hentai. actually your first tentacle hentai

I don't want to come off as a ahole but... if you do choose that route you will and I promise you, you'll go "dafuq"

or the hentai not hentai that starts with a "k"

Most crushing ten minutes I've ever experienced...

Though, the worst one ever was Clannad After Story, when you-know-what happened. I was really depressed for about a week before I was able to go back and finish it.

I think the first time I hit something like this was the end of Half-Life 2 episode 2. Which was like a decade ago and there is still no effing sequel.

Attack on Titan would probably have this effect if it wasn't so hard to take seriously... the Blue Drop anime ending was depressing when I first saw it, though in retrospect it was pretty stupid. There was just no reason whatsoever for it to end that way, other than to mindlessly fulfill the Joan of Arc metaphor. Escape pods: they are a thing.

I was prepared for this. Beforehand I'd read Wyrms by Orson Scott Card.

I was not expecting to find tentacle rape in a 1987 science fiction novel, but surprises do happen.

2nd eroge I've ever played, it was called "yandere". Picked the title because it looked simple and I thought, what the hell yanderes are awesome, hoping I'd see someone like Gasai Yuno. Yeah.. next day I dissected a cadaver with a poker face.

Yeah, the first episode of Kotoura-san without a doubt.

Absolutely soul crushing.

Also, episode 10 or 11 in Air (TV). They were on a beach. Think I hit rewind about 20 times to make sure I was still alive.
