I've been called "anifag", which I take lightly and I've begun to use that phrase jokingly. I've also been called "F**king mad" for repeatedly watching the ending of School Days. I get called gay a lot for liking Miku and anime. I don't get worked up by other people calling me names, it's me who usually upsets myself.

Also I get a lot of "Oh it's all porn" and "F**k off back to 4chan then you p***k".

"They" think it is just like the kiddie cartoons only made by the Japanese in the Japanese style and don't think I should be watching that stuff at my age.

I fell in love with your post, and it made my entire day x3

I've been checking up on the posts while I was studying for class, but coming here makes me just as happy!

Also, Elfin Lied really takes it's weird emotional toll, as well as making you think about "What actually is Anime?"

Same thing with Another.

The same thing happens to me, that's why I attempt not to care, and share it with people I know will watch it. I forced almost all my friends into at least one anime series, and they have thanked me every day since.

Yeah, I've tried that but it didn't work out too well. They wouldn't watch any anime even if everyone from every other country was enjoying it, I feel. I'd love to have friends around me who enjoy anime, but unfortunately "our kind" seem to be confined to the internet.

The more reason you tell to the people who's not willing to accept, the more you look ridiculous.

You can tell them, "adults make this stuff, not kids."
To them, "nah. You pussy."

hahahaha

I think anime is for all ages. People have such a misunderstanding of what it is. The thing with anime is that anything, and I mean ANYTHING is possible. And its more entertaining, because they resemble real people to much more of an extent that like American cartoons. Just because they found a cheaper way to make porn in Japan by sometimes using Anime characters because they still have every human resemblance, and not having to pay "porn stars" as much doesnt mean anime should be perceived as perverted or "weird". The Japanese have such strange, creative minds; and with the use of anime, they have been able to show the would how incredible of a culture they live in.

I see your point, but I don't see the over all reason for it. Should we be embarrassed for what we like? Now I'm not saying to force it on people like I have, then you'd be the Mormon of anime. I'm saying that perhaps you should live your ways publicly, but not force them. Invite if you would like, but keep to yourself in your own way.

I don't know how much of this is making sense.

(Edit: This looks really weird. Just getting the hang of it.)

I understand what you are saying, and I respect it highly. I believe everyone should find something, anything about each culture that they like. How do they know if they never tried? There is so much to do before we die, but why not do our best to fill our lives with different things? Society is a weird thing. It's insanity to be doing the same thing over and over again.

Ahh I dunno, I can be very persuasive and the reasons I like anime are mainly for the action, quality of animation and violence. Sometimes the comedy too.

So people that don't understand anime or Japanese culture/language can be turned away quite a bit but I just show them fight scenes and stuff. I don't watch embarassing pervy school drama crap or anything so it's much easier to share my love for what I enjoy about anime than most people out there who like the loli moe stuff.

I'm guessing that your social life in some sense comes before your personal? I was like this at one point, though you should correct me if I am wrong.

It's more like the people i know are extremely ignorant to anything that isn't about death metal.
I haven't met anyone outside of the internet that likes anime.

If i were to say something like; "Hey there's this anime i really like about high school girls doing absolutely nothing!"
I'd get a reply like; "How old are you, and what are your sexual preferences?" (though you can imagine the actual words used).

I'm damned happy to be back to forum posting. Thank you for your amazing post, and maybe you can help me learn how not to make a quotation pyramid. I read up on the rules and all, but I'm failing when it comes to following that part. Perhaps you can share your wisdom?

I understand exactly what you mean. My ethnicity does problems for me on this aspect as well, and the school I'm going to doesn't exactly help the situation, since more than 90% of the population is African American "Ghetto"
