I didn't really prefer one over the other the redundancy of spider-man bugged me by the third movie, but i liked the first one. As for the amazing spider-man the only real problem I had is that the portrayal of Peter Parker was more of this modern skater boy rather than the classic nerd, growing up with the animated series this kind of bugged me. All in all I liked them the same amount but that might change with the second amazing spider-man movie

Andrew Garfield is the better Spiderman, but Toby McGuire was a better Peter Parker.

Spiderman 1 - Green Goblin was a joke, he looked like a bad cosplayed Power ranger, and then they killed him, which is a mistake because
he is spidermans classic nemesis so he should have been in at least two movies.

Spiderman 2 - In my opinion the best film in the trilogy, but again they kill the supervillain.

Spiderman 3 - They ruined the best Marvel bad guy, they failed to portray a menacing villain able to overpower Spiderman. The fear factor for venom was a must and they ruined it.

The Amazing Spiderman - Although it had great building to building swinging and more humorous Spiderman lines, I think they could have done a better job with the story line, after watching the movie, it leaves you feeling ripped off for spending $7.50 to see it in theaters.

The Amazing Spider man

Pros
1. Better lead actors
2. Better CGI
3. Good plot with the villain

Cons
1. Peter Parker is dorky, Andrew Garfield is not
2. Lacked some better supporting characters
3. Not as accurate to the comic

Spider-Man

Pros
1. More true to the comics
2. Better pacing (Until 3rd movie)
3. Better character relationships

Cons
1. Poor CGI
2. Untapped villain plots
3. Over-complicated 3rd movie

I don't want really compare and contrast the 2 series right now because The Amazing Spiderman isn't finished yet and it would be very wrong of me to state something now. But just based on the 2 right now The Amazing Spiderman looks more promising and entertaining even though it's less accurate than the other series. The things I said simply highlight the good and bads of both series.

Proofs in the pudding as they say. The public wasn't really ready for a reboot. The domestic gross for Amazing Spiderman couldn't even come close to what Spiderman 3 made even thought it made less than the other 2 movies that came before it. That's why they're hyping the heck out of AS2 to get it to earn more or at least match the last one.

Personally, to me having a Spiderman movie without Mary Jane is like a Superman movie without Lois Lane.

Spider-Man 3 tainted the Spider-Man well, so let's not talk about box office gross.

Spider-Man 3 was a terribad movie, but the really amazing part was that unlike the first two movies, Toby's performance as Peter Parker wasn't even the worst parts of the movie.

OMG YES!! SOMEONE GETS ME!

In the Amazing Spiderman films, they wrote him so slick and smooth and suave.... and.. that isn't Peter.

Exactly Andrew Garfield doesn't match Peter Parker at all.

Amazing Spiderman. Spiderman(in the comics) is supposed to be real cocky and makes jokes to his enemies. Andrew Garfield does more of that than Toby.

Also, (first image) is way cooler than (second image)!
