As the topic name suggests, this thread is about hospitals. I wanted to know how many times the other Crunchyroll users had been to hospital (for themselves) and for what reason.

I hate hospitals but thankfully I've only been to them for myself once. When I was three I split the skin on my forehead open and had to get it stitched up. I still have a Y shaped scar on my forehead.

Share your stories here for the enjoyment of us all >:)

EDIT: Due to a somewhat high number of replies regarding being doctors/nurses, I'll just tell you that after school I want to either become a doctor or EMT, depending on where I'm more comfortable.

I hate hospitals.

4 years ago I was almost at every department of the hospital because I had a benign tumor on my left elbow but they didn't know what it was at first. So I had to go to a different city and I stayed there for 1 week and then had to go back and stay a week to have a surgery. Not to mention how many times they had to take my blood and how many times I fainted. One year after that my brother was in the hospital because he had a pneumothorax to make it even better it happened to him again like 6 months ago and it was worse then before. I even fainted once when I visited him.

Fortunately, I've only been to the hospital and stayed as an inpatient once as a young child(for a superficial burn to the face). However, I now go to my hospital almost every day because I work there as a physician.

I was admitted to a hospital when I was 12 because of pancreatitis was there for 2 weeks. Years later it flared up again and they found the problem. So they stuck a giant tube down my throat to get to the problem instead of surgery. I woke up during it, very uncomfortable.

Well I have to go to the hospital often. When I was younger I had to go a lot from ear infections and about 5 surgeries just on ear tubes. They kept going through my ear drum and I have almost gone deaf several times now. I had to go when I broke my right collar bone in two places. I had to go again for 3 cysts in which the third time it came back I had surgery to try and remove it permanently. I was admitted to the hospital for a week back in March of 2008 I believe. Now I have to go to one hospital ever 3 months for blood testing and check ups at a specialty clinic as well as a different hospital every 6 weeks for an infusion. So I am pretty comfortable with all of them and am known in almost every part of all three big hospitals in my area.

I hate hospitals, well its more that I hate my doctor. He creeps me out and always wants to give me physicals. For the most part though I'm a healthy horse and rarely get sick.

I haven't really been in any situations where I've had to be in a hospital since I was a child (being treated for tuberculosis, a broken arm, various check-ups), and therefore haven't developed any kind of dislike for them. I do, however, seriously dislike having to visit any kind of medical professional, but I think that's more my dad's fault than anything; he acts like every medical issue is minor and anyone who suffers is being 'overdramatic', so anyone visiting the doctor always leads to him ranting, especially if the problem is something with no symptoms visible to him.

Unfortunately, I have been several times over the last few years. Sadly, in this part of the country, there is a major issue with people taking and selling prescription painkillers so it's very hard to get a scrip for them. Because of this, each time I get a cluster headache, I end up in the hospital where they shoot me full of meds. It's kind of sad, really. Even knowing my health issues, they still refuse to give me a scrip for something I can take while at home for my occurrences. It angers me that a few bad apples spoiled it for all of us. Because of them, I have to go to a hospital every single time and getting there is not always easy. Driving with an active cluster is not possible so I usually have to get someone to take me. Then I have to sit in a waiting room for anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours, all while doing my best not to scream.

Funny thing was one of the nurses told me after a few visits that if I did scream, I would probably get seen faster...so the next time I did...and she was right.

I'm surprised my insurance doesn't give them crap for running up unnecessary charges. Each visit to the ER costs my insurance between $900 and $1700 depending on what they do with me. What a ridiculous waste of money when all they would have to do is give me a scrip for a painkiller that probably costs my insurance $30 a month and it's not like I would have to take pain meds everyday. Gotta love America!

every single day because I'm a doctor, but as a patient I've been many times, once when I was little and recently I spend 6 months after surgeries and then 2 full years after an accident 1 year in rehabilitation so I could walk again and probably I will spend more time since I have many surgeries left so I don't hate hospitals or love themI'm at both sides as a doctor and patient, I wish they give disccounts or something for regular customers

Fractured my elbow when I was 12, got a fence post thrown at my head which left a 2 inch splinter hanging out of my forehead when I was 13 (nearly got my eye put out by a washing line the day before), dislocated my knee when I was 15, and have had multiple seizures in the past year and am now a diagnosed epileptic. Fun times! :/
