I am currently looking into purchasing a 12 month subscription to CR. However I do not want to purchase a renewable plan and would just like the 12 months. Is there a way to do so? Any help from the community/customer support would be greatly appreciated. Also, in regards with gifting it to myself, I would but on the gift screen the payment method uses dollars and I wish to pay with Great Britian Pounds.

Just purchase your 12 month membership via paypal, then disable the renewal. Here's how:

Log in to your Paypal account
Go to Paypal's Recurring Payments page
Remove the entry for "Crunchyroll, Inc".

You can also use Rixity, no need for adding credit cart to it (you just need to transfer money), but cost a bit more.

I have nothing agains PayPal, but why is it so popular? There are lots of payment service providers that are better and easier in use.
This one, for instance has no fee at all. https://worldcore.eu/:phew: What do you think about it?
I would like to hear about advantages and disadvantages of using PayPal. Do you know alternative services, by the way?

It was something like the second-ever online payment company. (The first was something called x.com) Being one of the early adopters, even if not exactly the best, is pretty important in the eventual success of a business. So, it's popular because it's popular. Kind of like being a Kardashian...

Here, it might be because giving CR your credit/debit card information is a Very Bad Idea* (the link explains why), and the only other option they present up-front is PayPal.

I haven't completely verified any of what's below myself, but I will as soon as my current subscription runs out and I'm allowed to take my card information off. These are the pros and cons of the only good CR options I know of:

Paypal
Pro: TheAncientOne says that using PayPal allows you to reject charges you didn't authorize, which would protect you completely. Con: In June PayPal tried to quietly sneak a provision into their TOS to keep you from blocking spam calls from them or anyone they give your number to. They backed off, but the fact they tried in the first place is a little disturbing.

Gift subscriptions to yourself
Pro: Shinryou says that buying a gift subscription lets you avoid CR keeping your credit/debit card information available for any intruder to use in the CR store, if you immediately take your card off until the next time you want to buy gift subscription(s). Con: You would lose out on the yearly discount.

Virtual credit card
Pro: A virtual credit card number would protect you completely, as long as the provider holds up their end of it and doesn't let CR make charges you didn't authorize. Con: Virtual card numbers mostly fell by the wayside despite being a great idea, so you may not be able to get one without paying for it.

Worldcore
The link you gave looks like they might have a virtual credit card service, but I'm not sure because I found it a bit confusing. If I understand it correctly and they only charge 99 cents for a prepaid card that can be used for a single payment to CR (and CR wouldn't be able to make any more charges), I would love to use it. If you try it out and it works well, please let me know?

* - I'll be glad to stop asserting this if they ever provide an accurate, sensible answer to the points raised in that post and/or stop insisting on policies that make subscribers much more vulnerable to fraudulent charges. So far all I've heard is "Netflix does it too" in response to point 1, which didn't prove to be true.
