For the most part its a damn good dub.... for the most part. Not comparing to the Japanese dub (cause Ayako Kawasumi is irreplaceable as Saber) here was a lot of really good quality acting. Kiritsugu and Kirei sounded awesome. Saber, Rider, Caster, Rynouskue, and several others were good but nothing particularly worth noting. Then there are the weak links. Pretty much any child character in this series sounded pretty bad, Lancer sounded pretty flat, Gilgamesh didn't even come close to what he needed to be, and Irisviel needed someone to actually direct her as her voice fit, but her delivery caused me to cringe every time she spoke.... and considering how much presence she has in the series I have to especially harp on her(this gets even worse when you compare her to her Japanese voice actress, who pulled the role off deliciously).

Both the japanese and english cast for this anime was amazing. As long as you watch it on a legal website, I don't care about which audio you chose.

Though I think that people who watch the Fate/Zero dub and then say it's crap prove that they are ultimately biased against english dubbing, and probably have no basis of what qualifies as good or bad acting.

Aside from simple bias (going in with the attitude the dub is going to be inferior), I think a lot of people make the mistake of viewing a dub while the voices from the sub are still fresh in their minds.

Whenever possible, I like to put about a year between when I view a sub and a dub. For other people, it depends on how good your memory for voices are. It also is a problem if a voice from the sub was very memorable and distinctive. In that case, it can be like listening to a cover of a song; it doesn't matter how well it is done technically, part of your mind is telling you, "That's not how it is supposed to sound".

'I don't know if it's because I watched it in sub first'

Well there's your answer. 99% of the time you'll grow more used to what you hear first. I've heard it and it's definitely one of the better ones. If I recall I think I found Sabre's a bit strange because she sounded American and then slightly like she was veering off into sounding English on a few occasions, but other than that I thought it was pretty solid. Though Grimbonez says it better than I can anyway. Voice Actors are indeed exactly that. As a voice actor you are strongly disencouraged from imitating the actors that came before you. Unfortunately many sub lovers want the dubbers to sound like the Japanese VA speaking English when that's not the point of what you're meant to do in that line of work. I remember Crispin Freeman talking about doing it from experience and they told him it essentially sounded shit and he should make it his own performance, not copy.

Though I can understand the sentiment of getting used to a character's voice and feeling dissatisfied when hearing him/her speak differently.

But for some reason, I find it easier to adapt to the english dub rather than the other way around. I would never be able to watch Baccano! in japanese.

And I'll go with the flow and repeat that an actor's job is not to do impressions. As a matter of fact, imitating someone else's performance when you're a professional is not only lazy, but very disrespectful. As J Michael Tatum once explained, it's basically saying ''Wow, this guy sounds good, so I'm just gonna do exactly what he did, but better''.

I guess it isn't that bad but still not a big fan of it.

Just watched that trailer.

Some of the voices are ok, but some of them were..... not too great.

The Trailer dose not give a proper showing on how good this dub is.
